Iron Ridge Campground

Iron Ridge Campground is nestled in the scenic Vesuvius Recreation Area within the Wayne National Forest in southeastern Ohio. Offering a perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts, the campground provides opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing, horseback riding, and hiking in the surrounding rolling hills.

Located above the picturesque 143-acre Lake Vesuvius, the campground features multiple RV camping sites with electric hookups, as well as first-come, first-serve sites. Each site can accommodate up to eight individuals and is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. The campground also offers accessible flush toilets, showers, and drinking water, with some sites having access to shared water spigots. A dump station is available on-site for convenience.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities at Lake Vesuvius, including boating, fishing, and swimming. Anglers can expect to catch bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill in the lake's waters. With over 40 miles of trails in the area, hikers can explore the beautiful forest of mature eastern hardwoods surrounding the campground. The Lake Shore Trail, a scenic 8-mile loop around the lake, and shorter trails leading to Rock House Cave are popular options for outdoor adventures.

To reach Iron Ridge Campground, follow State Route 93 north from U.S. Highway 52 in Ironton for 6 miles, then turn east onto Lake Vesuvius Road (County Road 29) for 1 mile to reach the recreation area.
