"Let me start by saying that I've been a Diamond Member a couple times and have stayed in literally over 200 Choice hotels, coast to coast, over time. In fact, I stayed in this hotel the first day it was open and under the former award winning management and ownership. Here is my assessment of current owners/managers. The bed was okay and the mattress probably should be replaced; however, there was no back pain in the morning! The heating/ac unit shut off completely in the middle of the night and I woke up shivering. The last time I stayed here we had one of the nasty rooms you can read about in other reviews. Not only that, but during that stay all breakfast items were taken back before I could eat breakfast at 8:45. The owner/wife refused to bring out anything for me to eat. The most current stay was different. We were literally the only guests in this entire place! Yes, it was a Sunday night, but this hotel is right on I-77 and shouldn't be vacant at any time. As you can imagine, there was no hot food or fruit for breakfast. Not even a refrigerated breakfast sandwich or boiled eggs. It might be presumptious of me but a hotel must provide advertised amenities to accommodate guests and promote repeat business. Due to the following, I think I know why this hotel appears to be failing. First, the owners don't have professional front desk staff that know how to be friendly and welcoming. They sorely need to hire people for whom English is their first language, and have the desk manned 24/7. Second, the rooms need maintenance and some need repair, while worn mattresses need replaced. Third, the owners need to change their focus from making sure that guests are following the rules to making their guests feel welcome. Fourth, the front desk area should smell like any other hotel, not like an Indian kitchen ( I walked out of a Fresno CA hotel one time because front desk staff were smoking pot). Finally, when owners speak broken English, they would be well served to hire someone on their behalf to respond to online reviews and write/print their little notes that are posted around this hotel so that what they say makes sense. I suspect the owners live at this hotel and are too hands on. It's sad because the property is nice. I sincerely hope the owners take this review to heart without getting defensive and focusing on the wrong thing. Last comment: if you cause friction between you and your guests, fail to live up to your obligations as advertised, and fail to make your guests feel safe and welcome, a hotel business will fail. It is a "hospitality" business, not a convenience store."
"Stayed here for a few days for work and wasn’t disappointed. The hotel was clean and well kept. The showers were nice, beds were clean and comfy. Everything worked (hard to come by as often as I’m in hotels). The man I always saw at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. I’d definitely stay here without work choosing it if I ever needed one in the area. (My picture isn’t great but I always snap a quick one to show my family where I’m staying.)"
"Rooms the showers where so gross and the people that work there can barely understand them cause they have accent and the people at the front desk don’t even know ow what there doing when it comes to checking people out early. And if it heavily snows and ice they don’t salt or shovel so it’s a slipping hazard. I won’t not recommend staying here for that price better hotel closer for couple dollars more"
"It seems this hotel is on the downside of being well maintained. The toilet paper holder in my room was torn off the wall. There dead bugs in the bathrooms light fixture. The wall mounted shampoo and conditioner in the shower were both conditioner. The soda machine and ice machine on 2nd floor were both broken. The breakfast was very sparse."
"As another reviewer made comments about the manager, he wasn’t the most personable person. I think it is just the culture. But, we didn’t stay here for a personable manager. The price was fair and the hotel was well maintained. The room was very clean. The breakfast was more than adequate. We would stay here again."
