"I loved my apartment and community amenities when I lived here, but can only give a two star review because of certain situations I had with the management team. When I moved out I left my apartment in near-perfect condition, but the apartment held my deposit and stated they were doing so for "damages." There were a couple small marks on the carpet (probably dime-sized) in the bedroom, but nothing that was beyond normal wear and tear. As someone who has worked with various property management companies, I know how to leave an apartment in an acceptable condition along with the consequences of not doing so. On a few occasions when I emailed the management team with questions, they went around them and didn't give me direct answers. The apartments are beautiful, I loved the amenities, and I had no maintenance issues while I lived in the building, so there were many positives, but at the end of your lease, they will likely try to keep your deposit regardless of how your apartment looks. As a note, I moved out several months ago but was reminded to write this review after recently receiving communication from a debt collection agency regarding the cost of the "damages" I allegedly left."
"I would highly recommend leasing elsewhere. I never leave reviews and usually just accept bad experiences as a part of life but this leasing experience I truly regret. I thought I was signing up for a very nice place (hence the rate of rent). On two different occasions there was emesis left on the stairwell for days without being cleaned. On many occasions food was scattered down hallways from trash pick up. I worked out of town for three months and repair men had to access my apartment. I came home after a week of work to find my front door unlocked AND my balcony doors wide open, exposing all of my belongings to the elements (unsure for how long). I sent an email to the office with no reply. Called and was politely told it will not happen again. Repair men had to come back after the phone call and AGAIN I came home to an unlocked front door. This place could not care less about you or your belongings or your living experience. I recently received my deposit and it is absolutely pathetic. I left the place in pristine shape and am in disbelief at how little this place cares about its residents. If you value your money and belongings at all, you will not rent here."
"I had signed a lease at another apartment complex, and was supposed to be moving in, and the day of the entire thing went downhill. We couldn’t move in because the entire unit was incorrect. I walked over here because it was in the area. I was in desperate need of a unit, and Lindsay in the front office was so kind and helpful. She walked me through multiple units and even allowed me to start the application on site. She was aware I needed to be in a unit the day of. I then met Daniel, the property manager, who helped me get into a unit while waiting for my roommate to finish her documents, because she was at work when all of this was taking place. I have never in my life experienced such kindness at an apartment complex. The move in process was incredibly easy and the apartment themselves are stunning and so far all appliances have functioned properly. I am so excited for my year here and am so thankful to the team that helped me make this my home."
"I have lived in The Avalon for the better part of the past three years. I loved my apartment but found the on site management to be lazy, non-responsive and generally rude. The parking is abysmal and the owners have been very slow and hesitant to pursue a workable solution. My car doors have been dinged on multiple occasions and more times than not there are no parking spaces near my unit. If parking convenience and management responsiveness is important to you, this is not the place for you."
"Phenomenal apartment complex with better management. Approximately 4 months ago my girlfriend and I moved into Avalon. We did so after careful consideration and touring almost every decent property in Charleston. We could not be more pleased with the results so far, the apartments are spacious, the location is great and the amenities are top notch. As great as all of those things are, the aspect of Avalon that has really put it over the top so far has been Chris, the housing manager. From day one he has been courteous and there to help at any moment. His actions and his advocacy on behalf of residents will make an impact on anyone choosing to stay here. If you are looking for an apartment building in Charleston, make sure to check out Avalon."
