Reviews of Cornell Arms Apartments
"Boiling hot! The heat is controlled centrally. To appease a few people that object to putting on a pair of socks, the entire building is turned up to boiling hot. It's 50 outside and I'm sweating in my living room. Windows open. Window air conditioners on. People on the floors too low to keep the windows open must be suffocating. Why? The environmental footprint on this building must be astronomical."
"I have a been living here since 2016 and things were going well until now....I am glad for the new improvements but not looking forward to come home from a 10 hour shift,to a freezing and dark apartment, while they install the new generator....Sunday December 18 2022 is going to be 29 degrees and we are going to be without power. And after paying my rent ON TIME ($875 for a "studio" with no kitchen and $75 for my parking space) I have no more money to rent a hotel room. I don't have any family here where to stay, so I guess I will freeze. Hopefully next year I'll be somewhere else."
"Ah, visiting my old college town after more than twenty years and seeing Cornell Arms brings back good memories. I see all the bad reviews and I probably would have written one myself if they had Google reviews in the 90s. I mean, we had our run-ins with management, broken elevators, bugs, full parking lots, noise from neighbours and they didn't do internet (Can you imagine!). We had to get our own expensive internet and shared it illegally with cables through the bathroom ventilation shafts with friends in the building! But, in the end this unique building in Columbia will also become a good memory for all of you."
"BEWARE! You will die in chilly winters- there is no heating mechanism in the apartments!!! The building and apartments are freezing in winters, it is impossible to survive, they don't have proper AC or heater, sinks everywhere get blocked often. When we put on personal heaters to save from chilling cold, then the power gets shutdown of whole apartment, it just cant take up the load of small personal heater. There are no chimneys or proper light in the apartment. They don't even have generator for power backup. Last year, there was a power shutdown for 2 days and all the residents had to be evacuated urgently and put in hotel. The property did not even reimburse for food and other expenses. There are molds on walls, they just paint on top of it when called for repair. There are other good buildings in the area, Cornell arms is just charging heavy rent for its location which doesn't make sense Even after all this, they are increasing the rent day by day. They charge 75$ for the parking, but every-time some other public parks in your spot and you cant do anything."
"I lived at Cornell Arms my senior year of college. The manager loves the students like they are her own kids. It’s super convenient to USC campus, but you’ll need to find parking. There are roaches but my roommate and I sprayed every other week and we were fine, just keep your dishes washed and your apartment clean. The window units work well except they get a little smelly in the summer when it’s humid outside. You just have to clean it like once a month and it’s good. The laundry can get a little expensive and doesn’t dry well at all, but I just did my laundry at my boyfriend’s house. Overall for the price and the location I would recommend living here. Love the manager!"
