Reviews of Saigon Asian Food Market
"They sold me expired food. This is a vegan pate that I bought today (Jan 20, 2024) and they haven't changed out the products yet. HSD means expiration date, which was in 2023."
"Wow! this is a GREAT new location!!! The previous store was small and really focused on essentials. This store really has everything. They have a large produce section with fresh daikon, brean sprouts, bok choy, ginger... and so much more! Really everything that I can't find at the grocery store or the other large Asian style market. I was able to get everything on my list, even the Aloha brand!! Tons of Japanese, Thai, and Chinese products, even a few Korean ones. I wasn't able to get Korean kimchi, but they did have Japanese kimchi. Also, they had a few frozen products I haven't seen in SC shops before that I know and love. Their frozen and refrigerated prepackaged food section is smaller, but all the other sections seem to be much larger than expected with great variety: snacks, beverages, ramen, noodles, produce, sauces, dried ingredients, frozen meats, fresh whole fish. I thought prices were good for SC. You really can't compare to other chains in other regions because the supply chain to get to SC has so many more obstacles and costs for these goods from Asia."
"Today is beautiful, so we decided to hit the local Asian markets for some treats. This place is the best in the area and has only gotten better since our last visit. Spacious, clean, and fresh-smelling, they boast a huge variety of chilled coffees, teas, and fruit juices as well as gorgeous fresh mushrooms and herbs, fish and seafood on ice that were shiny-eyed and looking great. I saw a lady come out of the bakery area with something looking sandwichy rolled in paper and watched her put them in the fresh food cooler at the front. With no signage, only some rolls marked B and some not marked, I asked the checkout guy what they were and if B meant beef and he said, "They're like sandwiches. B is barbecue." It hit me: "Oh! Like banh mi?" He smiled and said yes. I grabbed one of each kind to try and he said, "You can get a bag of vegetables for each one." The carrots, onions, green peppers, and cilantro were nicely sliced in little sandwich bags to keep them crisp! We ate the barbecue one first, and it was spectacular! The bread was so soft and perfectly toothy, the meat tender and flavorful. This is my place for banh mi from now on!"
"Extremely over priced! PRICE: Compared to Asians stores I’ve been in California and even Michigan, at the most their price is doubled. Thinking about as a business owner, it’s probably because of high demand low availability of Asian stores. But it honestly feels like I’m getting ripped off but couldn’t help but purchase because there isn’t much asian stores to go around. Also some of their pricing label is so off. For example their filipino ice cream was $88 but I knew that was an obvious mistake. Nonetheless their filipino icecream was $17 when they’re typically around $8-$12 at the most. Their lumpia was $22 when in most asian stores it’s $12. They have the supplies but consider that you’re going to pay most likely double. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Their staff was very friendly. The young lady at the regístreles pointed me to the right direction with no issue."
"So happy this place has the best frozen durian. If you ever wanted too try it I highly recommend coming here. They have 4 different ones too choose. I'm so happy I love durian"
