"This was my first time visiting The Root Cellar, we had the southern egg rolls and livers for appetizers, the shrimp and grits and meat, and three for lunch. The food was ok but I did have high expectations so I don't know if I should have lowered them. It's a good lunch spot for Southern food just a little bland for our taste."
"This is a great place to go for good home cooked meals, they have specials every day which are priced right and generous servings. The Wed meatloaf special is great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."
"The food was great! We shared the fried livers & fried green tomatoes. They were so good. I've had them 3 out of the 4 times I've been there. Just the livers & green tomatoes."
"Our server was brand new and really made a great impression with her positivity and attention to detail (reading back the order). Somehow the orders still didn’t come out exactly right but again she was great. The food was okay, the location is great and the decor was clean if not a bit dated (no dust or cobwebs). If you’re in town and looking for a bite this place will hit the spot. I had the blackened fish sandwich with bacon and a side of brussel sprouts, my dad the steak sandwich, and my sil the fried chicken and okra. The soup of the day was the best flavor, everything else just needed a little something else (fresh bread for sandwiches, seasoning on sides, and a little less grease on the fried foods). If you’re local check them out and support a local business."
"I’ve been here a few times. I think the thing that got me this time, was when I asked for a sparkling white wine they gave me some nasty rose’ that was definitely not sparkling. I’m not a wino at all but was really looking forward to something sweet. I had the meat loaf Mac n cheese and a baked potato. The potato was very good. The meat loaf..probably won’t get that again. My daughter ordered the pulled pork egg rolls with pimento cheese. Those were interesting. The fries were good and our waitress was very nice. It was a little expensive. Without the app and wine I guess it wouldn’t have been too bad. I will go back again though because I know they have some great dishes."
