Reviews of Schumacher Cargo Logistics
"AWFUL COMPANY - DO NOT USE - SCAM"
"Do NOT use this company..Horrible customer service..they don't inform you on any changes with your shipment, nor do they answer the phone when you call..we been waiting for 9 months now for our motorcycle to leave savannah port to go to germany.. 9 months!!!! They estimated it being in germany within 3 months when we got the quote..it was supposed to leave yesterday, but of course that didn't happen..they pushed it back another 2 weeks the day before..im fed up with them at this point.. I tried to cancel the shipment but they wouldn't give me a refund.."
"One of the worst experiences that I had in a long time. I hired them to transport a motorcycle from Bremenhaven, Germany to Brunswick, GA. It took 3 months to deliver the bike and, even though I recognize that supply chain/logistics is insane in a post-pandemic world, the lack of transparency and communications was unnerving. They simply don't care. Phone calls are never returned, emails ignored. Shipping costs are only disclosed after the cargo arrives because of "port fees and other charges only known when the cargo arrives". Other shippers charge a fixed fee but ok, I get it however, they never warn you or estimate on what fees should you expect and how much they might be. I found out when the motorcycle was (finally, after 4 attempts) loaded on a ship because I contacted the shipper in Germany directly which, once knowing my email, proceeded to notify me on every step of the process. Nothing from Schumacher, emails ignored, phone calls unanswered. Same with arrival. I found out that the bike arrived through the vessel company's website. Not a peep from Schumacher. It took them 2 weeks to send me the bill (which was $400 more than their "estimate") and another week to issue the cargo release. When I finally got the paperwork in order, I had to hire an escort service to allow me into the port. In all fairness, Schumacher did warned me that an escort was required to retrieve the bike however, they never mentioned that it would cost $180 to obtain such service. Their business model (whatever it may be) might work fine for big shippers with lots of regular cargo. They have a lot to learn to deal with independent importer/collector."
"Useless. I am trying to ship a vehicle from Savannah GA (one of the largest port cities in the country) to Rome Italy. I entered this into their online form. I received the quote and it was for the Destination City of New York (800 miles north of Savannah) to Genoa Italy (500k north of Rome). I called to clarify their quote and was told that this is the "only way they could do it because New York would be cheaper and "obviously Rome is NOT A PORT CITY" so they would have to go to Genoa". So yes, the quote was affordable. But I would have to get my vehicle to NYC then from Genoa to Rome. Not sure why I just didn't get a quote for Savannah to Port of Civitavecchia (which is only 80K north of Rome)."
"Schumacher Cargo was hired as a subcontractor of a subcontractor of a shipment for a move we recently made from London to Atlanta. We paid our shipper all the costs in full up front. We were contacted by Schumacher after our personal items arrived at the US port and told that they were applying a long carry fee of $484 for walking 90ft instead of 75ft on a full container. They instructed us that if we didn't pay immediately they would charge late fees and storage fees and would hold our personal items indefinitely or dispose of them. We contacted our shipper who reached out to them and confirmed we were paid in full and should not be charge. In addition, Schumacher Cargo's terms listed that delivery into a house, unwrapping furniture, and disposing of waste was included. They did not perform any of these services and refused to offer them. They also charged for a full container when ours was documented as 2/3 full and after agreeing to refund part of the fee once proof was provided. The first delivery of the shipment was canceled by Schumacher after waiting 3 hours for the delivery due to their logistical error. The second scheduled delivery was late as well. They sent 2 people to unload a 40ft storage container without even a hand truck. We got one for the pair unloading the truck so they could complete the job. I strongly recommend thinking twice before doing business with this company. I would also recommend confirming with your shipper that they do not allow this company to subcontract."
