Reviews
"They messed up my filing and no one ever contacted me. Do not waste your time go somewhere else where their staff will take care of you and do the right thing."
"Friendly staff and saved me $1K with choosing the best way to file for my situation (multiple states, etc.). Tatiana was very helpful and knowledgeable and I will definitely come back next year to get my taxes done again."
"Positive comments (at Google Reviews) notwithstanding, it is unfortunate H&R Block's (Greenville, SC) complete disregard for my requests for help have left me to the point of posting this review. My problem began with "Adjustments to Income" errors received from the downloadable H&R Block tax preparation software. After 4.5 hours speaking with "Toll-free Support" I was finally assigned a formal CASE Number and referred (by phone appointment) to the local Greenville, SC office for further assistance. A representative from the local office (Tat... M.) called at the appointed time and after a brief description of my issues, I can proffer my conclusions from the first half of that call: 1). (Tat... M.) clearly was wrong about the maximum IRA deduction of $6000 for a filer aged 63. She was adamant (after three requests for clarification) that $6000 was the maximum contribution for anyone under 65. The current maximum is actually $7000 for filers age 50 or older. (Tat... M.) was also unsure about the difference between earned income and passive income. These two factors are likely two huge red flags regarding her qualifications to assist with tax filers. The second half of the appointment was an greater disappointment. She informed me she wasn't "on the same Online system" as the software and couldn't help with what I was "seeing". I reminded her that despite any differences in "software" or process, all government forms and worksheets were IDENTICAL and therefor not really an issue. I repeatedly offered to forward her PDFs of whatever forms were needed. She ignored my requests, choosing instead to "do additional research on IRAs" and she would "call back in an hour". She did not call as she indicated. After a two hour wait, I called their office and left a message requesting a return call. What I recieved was an e-mail at the end of the day with useless IRA details obtained from a quick Internet search (duh). One additional e-mail exchange was of no value in moving forward (sufficiently) to a point where they were actually looking at something. During this entire process, (Tat... M.) never asked any productive questions whatsoever and decidedly avoided any relevant information or content I tried to offer. By the way, the tax return itself is not an itemized return, thus not terribly complex. The office clearly did not want to investigate the CASE (details) previously documented by the Toll-Free referral group. Realizing that each tax-filing case is unique, I can't speak to the overall skill-sets or competence held by the office staff, in general. That would be unfair. But it is more than reasonable to comment on the one clerk (Tat... M.). Quality of customer care extended? Single word: "Abysmal". Regarding the ability to set customer expectations? Single word: "None". Regarding minimal knowledge-based skills displayed (see above)? Single word: "Poor". Another way of putting it ... The clerk was in no way ready for "Prime-Time". Evidenced by my interaction with the single clerk, the Greenville H&R Block office would be unable to provide timely assistance, accurate information or a work product I could have confidence in. However, as noted by other Google reviews, customer opinions will vary."
"I dint need to go to the H&R Block office after I forgot my appointment. They said that I could just upload it on the H&R Block website and that would be all I needed to do."
"Used them in 2021. They did a terrible job. Kept having to call to find out what was happening, never returned call. Finally had to speak to manager, who managed to get them finished in days, after 3-4 weeks of chasing them. I am completely un-confident they did a good job. Fees where very high for simple form. Now this year, they keep spamming me appointment messages for appointments I have not made. I unsubscribed twice and they keep coming. So higher than comparable taxes, very high fees, and annoying spamming. Very happy to be done with them."
