"We goofed on our timing and arrived right as Gio's closed. The staff, however, were extremely courteous and accommodating, and invited us in. While I don't recommend doing this, it highlights the level of customer service they provide. We left with gelato, sorbet, and pastry treats, all of which were quite satisfying. I hope to get back soon to try the coffee and examine their Italian Market wares. We'll just schedule a more appropriately-timed visit. Be aware that the shop is small. It's a to-go business, it appears, rather than a sit-down location for gelato and coffee. They are only a block from the benches of a small park, however, and the Main Street is one of those that people will want to walk while eating a treat."
"Everything about this hidden gem was amazing. From the moment we walked in we felt like family, were treated with such kindness, and served the most authentic Italian bakery items we’ve had since actually being in Italy! The take and bake meals we got were also super yummy and fresh. Thanks Gio’s!!"
"Happy 2nd Anniversary to Gio’s! I went in today and bought chilis and anchovies and fresh pasta. Of course Cannoli and I always leave with a Cappuccino! I always feel like family when I go in. It’s like your favorite store to go into for conversation and your weekend pastry and pastas. You can’t beat the pastry and cookies best in the upstate and the Italian market and sandwiches too!! We go every week for the must haves! Thank you for bringing a piece of my old home to SC."
"I drove 2 hours to pick up some homemade Struffoli and it was delicious. Reminded me of the way my Nonna made it. Maria and her wonderful parents are the staple of this family owned Italian shop. They were kind enough to throw in some rainbow cookies. Maria's father had me try his riceballs. My God, I didn't want to leave. Since I was there picked up some Italian bread, Sicilian olives, fresh manicotti, sauce & some imported broccoli rabe. I will be making a trip soon to this southern gem. Thank you again for the espresso and Sfogliatella. Buon Natale!!"
