Reviews of Charles Schwab
"I would like to share my experience of moving over to Schwab from a major Flagship company. That I was with 30 years. This was a process that I spent quite a bit of time researching before making this move as it involved more than one person. Back in October I reached out to Schwab and was connected with Thiago in the Greenville office. After several long conversations, I made the decision to bring all the other people involved as this was going to be multiple accounts to transfer over. In the meet with Thiago. That meeting was extremely pleasurable, Thiago is extremely knowledgeable and on what he wasn't able to answer he had no problem to bring in Betsy and James from their operational side of this office. Afterwards Thiago introduced me to the branch manager Nathan who I immediately felt was very competent and extremely friendly and outgoing and open to all questions. As with many things in life when they involve larger and more complicated in moving from one large firm to another there are bound to be some issues. All I can say that every issue that came up NOT only was this office extremely competent but every person I dealt with at Schwab at the corporate level was extremely good and efficient and courteous. Except for one Department which had nothing to do with this office I will explain that in the end. This was quite a contrast from the flagship company I came from. If I could give this office $150% rating I would because they really do go out of their way to help their clients. Thiago, Betsy, James and Nathan the branch manager are nothing short of exceptional. And Schwab as a corporation which now I've had three solid months of dealing with the company with several issues that have had to be resolved. All I can say is all of the issues to date have been resolved. I would give Schwab a 100% rating but as I said there is one Department which is on the corporate side of Schwab which I felt really needs a lot of work. And that is on there corporate operation side this is the side that deals with forms that need to be sent in. You can call a compliance, crossing the t's and dotting the eyes Department. I found this department to be the most difficult to deal with and has the most lack of follow-through and truly gives Schwab a black eye. I would recommend to upper management them looking at fixing some of these issues which are quite easy to fix. One is if something's wrong with a piece of paperwork notify the client and the office don't just let it sit out there in limbo and nobody does their job in the operation side. Thank heaven once accounts are set up one should have very little to do with the operational side. And for me that's a good thing for me cuz I really was uncomfortable dealing with them as I could not. That's why I give Schwab a 95% rating not 100 it's just this one Department which has nothing to do with this office. I really enjoy this company I think they are phenomenally customer-centric company and this office in particular I'm very grateful that I'm associated with this office and cannot thank all of those in this office enough. Just wanted to share my experiences both the good and the things that need Improvement. I hope this helps others."
"I've only been to a couple branches just to make a deposit. The Greenville branch is friendly. Clientele of all walks of life and all ages. When I arrived, the gentleman at the front desk was helping a lady set up a CD from her laptop. It's a pretty common opinion that the Schwab website and it's mobile apps aren't modernized as Wealthfront and likeness thereof . I thought it was cool that she was getting helped instead of waiting to enter an office with someone. Also making a deposit was done at the front desk, instead of going into an office like I did at a different branch. Very easy and seamless. It seems too easy to write a bad review of a financial institution today. Money and/or investing can really cause a lot of anxiety. Schwab customer service on the phone, in-branch, and live chat are all top notch in my opinion. More consistent than any other service or app I use!"
"Charles Schwab cost me money as a result of their inferior customer service. Greenville office was helpful but it shouldn't have reached that point. My TD Ameritrade account was transfered to Schwab who had old information from a retirement plan 20 years ago that I didn't even know existed (balance was zero of course). This prevented me from being validated on line and necessitated an in person visit. The company is slow to react and give the general impression that they couldn't care less about my money. Schwab needs to fail as a company. Do not trust these people with your money. For clarification my information on file with Ameritrade was up to date. It was Schwab who was using outdated information. This incident easily cost me $500 in lost opportunity. Even after my personal visit it's been almost 4 hours and I still can't access my account. Stay away."
"The representative from Schwab invited me in on a 3-party call, stayed with me speaking up only when the 3rd party seemed confusing. I felt she was leading the call. The transaction was successful because Schwab's rep handled it so well. I am glad Schwab is my bank."
"For day trading, Schwab is not to be trusted. Many times the software has made mistakes and not sold the stock when I put a order in, and then froze. My computer is a new business class Lenovo, so it is not the problem. When you call to have the problem fixed, they tell you it is not there fault that the software made a mistake, and to read your user agreement. There is one individual in conflict resolution who is honest and will correct the problem, but the rest of them will not, and then they will proceed to close your case. What does this mean, it means that you could loose a lot of money because there software made a mistake, and they will do nothing to correct there mistake."
