Reviews of The Jasmine House
"Location was excellent, and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. We adored Lorenzo, our guide and valet. The concept and room design are great. My partner is an interior designer, and she loved the way the rooms were assembled and furnished. Whoever was the designer had a sharp eye for antiques and wallpapers. It was outfitted nicely with snacks, drinks, and top-quality toiletries and soaps. At this point, you may ask why 3 stars? While the aesthetics and staff were fantastic, the noise level from the bottom floor and terrible bedding made what we expected to be a fantastic stay rather uncomfortable. We were on the bottom floor next to the main entrance, and so we could hear everyone coming in and out of the house. We were woken up at 6am after a lovely late evening to people assembling the breakfast area. We were then woken up an hour later to vacuuming upstairs, then another hour after that by more vacuuming and chatter right outside our door. Our expectation of a slow, relaxing morning was ruined. On top of that, the spring-loaded mattress, along with pillows that were too firm yet somehow devoid of any volume, made us wake with aches and pains. And if we're in our late 20s/early 30s, I can't imagine how it'd affect older guests. It sounds harsh, but I promise I am being very fair here. It was like sleeping in Super 8. Seriously."
"We recently spent three lovely nights at the wonderful Jasmine House, and its location, staff, and spacious rooms made our trip to Charleston a true delight. Everywhere we turned, a staff member was ready to help and make our stay as pleasant as possible. Niki, Courtney, David, and Mary were all fabulous and made us feel as if we were at home instead of at an inn. The room was huge and furnished with period pieces that enhanced the overall Charleston atmosphere. The breakfast was delightful, especially since there are several lovely outdoor spaces to eat and enjoy the beautiful grounds. The location is also great; we were able to walk everywhere and explore the historic district. I highly recommend the Jasmine House for a stay in Charleston!"
"I stayed at Jasmine House for six nights as part of a work trip. I had booked one of the carriage house rooms and it was the worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. The rug had clearly not been cleaned for many months, there were dead and dried insects on the floor and very dusty. The AC was loud and broken, it couldn’t be turn off so kept me up all through the night. When I raised this with hotel staff they did not seem bothered by it or eager to help fix it. The bathroom is in need of modernisation and there were many black spots in the ceiling which I realised on closer inspection were dead flies. After three nights of bad sleep I was able to change to a room in the main house (for ~$30 more/night) which was absolutely beautiful, clean, and had a modern bathroom. It truly felt as if I was transported to a different hotel. If I had stayed in the main house for the entirety of my trip I would give Jasmine House 5 stars."
"I feel as if the Jasmine House may be a bit of a hidden gem. The location is excellent, as it offers great walkability to downtown without being overly busy. The nearby parking for $20 is reasonable as well. When choosing where to stay in Charleston, the decision between modern versus traditional was difficult. If you're looking for Southern charm, this place is it! The house is beautiful. No pictures can do justice to the house and the carriage house, which is where we stayed. The furnishings appropriately fit the home and were comfortable. Small touches, such as the private courtyard, wine and cheese reception, breakfast in the morning, and then a stocked fridge with drinks and snacks all stand out and make this the hidden gem. I would highly recommend to any travelers, especially couples looking for a getaway that is again in good walking distance."
"Wonderful stay! Stayed at the Jasmine House and was very impressed. Mary was very accommodating, sweet and very friendly. Breakfast, cocktail hour and late night champagne were all very nice. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed for a long weekend. The location was perfect, you can walk to everything and if not uber's were very affordable. So many things to do, see and eat!"
