"This review is based on the reservation process and room rates. We did not stay at 22 Charlotte. We originally chose 22 Charlotte because it is a family-owned B&B, not corporate, and a cooked breakfast is served. However, after experiencing a room rate discrepancy when changing our reservation dates, we chose to cancel our reservation. There are two rooms at 22 Charlotte, one has a shower, one has a tub. We made a reservation using the web site. We requested a room with a shower in the comment section of the reservation. We received a message stating the room with a shower was not available for the dates we selected. We requested to move our reservation dates several months forward in order to get the room with a shower. Prior to requesting the date change I checked the dates on the web site reservation page. It showed 2 rooms available at a rate of $325 per night for a total of $975 for three nights. I messaged the B&B with the reservation date change. Upon reviewing the updated invoice I received, I noticed the nightly room charges were $374, $455 and $460 totaling $1,289, not $975. I messaged the B&B about the discrepancy. I received the following explanation. “I know rates can be confusing. We employ an international company in Germany that implements an algorithm and constantly monitors our competition here in the Historic District. They set our rates based on market competition, fluctuations, local events, and more factors. Our rates can change as much as a dozen times in 24 hours. We have two room types, the first with a soaking tub only, and the second with a shower / tub combination. Our lowest, base rate is for the tub room. You have been charged for the shower / tub combination because that is what you requested.” Prior to messaging the B&B with the updated reservation dates, I snipped and saved the portion of the web reservation page that showed $975 total for three nights. There is nothing confusing about that. There is nothing confusing about the invoice I received where I was charged $1,289. If indeed the room rates change multiple times a day, the web site reservations should reflect these changes. I am not comfortable with or used to this style of business and requested cancellation of our reservation."
"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Vaughn's charming Airbnb in Charleston! From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home thanks to the warm and hospitable welcome from Vaughn herself. The antebellum charm of the home is truly breathtaking, with a lifetime of decor to explore and admire. The comfort of the accommodations was beyond compare, with every detail thoughtfully considered for the perfect stay. But the real highlight for me was the delicious homemade breakfasts - sweet potato pancakes and frittatas that were out of this world! Vaughn truly goes above and beyond with her care and personal service, making sure every guest is well taken care of. Her southern charm is infectious and made my stay all the more enjoyable. Overall, we can't recommend this b&b enough. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we would give it 5 stars without hesitation. Thank you, Vaughn, for such a wonderful experience!"
"If you go here expecting this to be like any other B&B, you need to reevaluate your expectations. This is a charming wonderful home of hospitality offered by two southern women. It is like staying with a long-lost cousin and her best friend. It is an unforgettable and enjoyable experience for people with good taste. We enjoyed the tour and hospitality provided by Miss Vaughn. She does take into consideration all feedback that you give her. Please help her out and her assistant Kim and give feedback in person instead of ranting online. We can’t wait to visit here again! Enjoy!"
"We had a wonderful 3 night visit in this beautiful Charleston bed and breakfast. The hotel is perched in the best location, close to all the shops and restaurants, to the point everything is walking or even biking distance. We love it here and the staff is the best. The beds are so comfortable and “not” being over a busy road has it’s advantages! 23 Charlotte Street is home away from home at the level you want to be from the very moment you step foot into Downtown Charleston, definable has my vote as thee number one bed and breakfast and overall best of Charleston at all levels of hospitality awards. Thank you so much for the exceptional stay!"
"We had a wonderful four day stay here at 22 Charolette with excellent hospitality from the owner Ms. Vaughan from the beginning to the end. You can tell she takes great pride in the details of making her guests feel right at home in her house. Ms. Vaughan took us on an informative and interesting tour of Charleston in her new car since it was our first time visiting the city. The tour really helped deciding the areas we wanted to walk through and visit. We always had a wonderful homemade breakfast each morning in the cozy breakfast area. During breakfast we always had a nice conversation with Ms. Vaughan learning abut each other. A full stomach was a great way to start off our tourist adventures for the day that usually included lots of walking. She had the sweetest Siamese cats around if you love animals like us it’s a extra bonus to have them greet you at times. Don’t worry if you don’t like cats they will leave you alone. The location of the Bed and Breakfast is just a few blocks away to the famous King street so is a nice walk to all the action. There are beautiful balconies to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful historic street view. We enjoyed our visit so much it was sad we had to head back to Texas. If we ever visited the Charleston area again we would for sure stay here again."
