"I’m giving a 4 star review due to the excellent level of care Jakayla just gave me and redirected me to get a scan I need before my genetics oncology counseling in Tennessee. Now that portion is done I also want to take time to recognize the liaison who is helping me with my issues here. I’ll have to look back at my notes for her name but she was wonderful to speak to. I want to recognize Jared Nix as well. He is someone who made a Godly & ethical choice to just pick up the phone and call me yesterday and probably nailed a diagnosis too (shingles of the trigeminal nerve). I am in more pain than I can express. I’d rather have two broken arms and I’m thankful for LDN, Gabapentin & numbing meds right now (I can still feel the pain through all that). He is getting me schedule here in Knoxville for this current flare and I am now scheduled (by JaKayla—thanks again) for the day before my oncology appointment. It’ll be tough on my body but I can do it. Though I’m still hurt and angry with how my records were suppressed here. They have more than made up for it in recent proper communications and as I, myself have calmed down. I believe they are making a real effort to train employees to recognize when a person is lashing out due to pain because this customer service is unparalleled to the negative words sent through MyChart and negative people I spoke to prior. At the end of the day, we are all only human and everyone has got to learn to know the value of their words. I’m thankful for yesterday and today’s communication efforts."
"I was asked to get my medical records to the MS specialist. It took a year for me to see the doctor and when I finally did he knew nothing about me after I sent my records a year before. It's been almost 2mths after the appointment and they still have not called me to discuss my treatment options. I have called them several times on this issue. MUSC sucks."
"Haven't been seen yet, but seems to be A LOT of confusion trying to get scheduled for an URGENT request (from my Primary Care Dr). Luckily, I have a copy of the request in my hand and MUSC Neurology doesn't seem to know what is going on with making an appointment for me!! I hope this is not what will happen when I finally am seen by an MUSC Dr. Very disheartening from the start."
"My daughter is an epileptic and her seizure rescue medication prescription expired and she needed a refill. Put numerous requests in on MyChart to have the prescription refilled and have called several times so far. It’s been a week since we made the request for a refill and she’s been out of her rescue medicine for a week now. Today, she had a grand mal seizure which could have been prevented if she had her rescue medicine. I actually called the office while she was having the seizure to tell them yet again that I needed the refill right away. They still didn’t call it in."
"Want to start this by adding how much pain I am in at the moment, with shooting pains going up and down my entire body. I scheduled an appointment for October 8th, 2 months ago. I was called today (9/12) stating that the appointment was canceled “because the doctor was pulled out”. When I went to reschedule they pushed it back 3 more weeks to October 28th. Thinking that that is unacceptable, I asked to be transferred to a higher up, which ended up being family services of some kind. She said she couldn’t promise that I would be seen sooner but she will “make a case” and that in the mean time, I should scheduled the appt for the 28th so it doesn’t get pushed back even further. So when I was transferred back and waited 10 minutes, it went to the phone and then the phone hung up. I called two more times, waited, and again got hung up on. Third time is the charm and I’m currently on hold right now as we speak. UPDATE - they were able to push my appointment for sooner rather than much later. The front desk staff was very nice, the young female doctor I saw was very, very kind and listened to all of my symptoms very keenly with great humility. I felt she was very genuine. The attending who advised was nicer but if it weren’t for Dr. Hannah Harrison, I don’t think I would have had much of a voice. Updated to 4 stars."
