Doctors Care - West Ashley

"The billing system that they have is very unusual. With insurance, you will be charged $88 upfront, even if your insurance covers 100% of the service. They will refund after they get paid by insurance but only if you call after the insurance has paid out. I found this out after calling to speak with someone in their billing department. This is a bad business practice. That being said, the doctors and nurses there are great."

"I got there about 9:45 on a Friday morning and had 3 people in front of me and I waited about 15min to be called back to a room. I was out of there in no time and had all my questions answered. Very helpful and friendly staff to work with and knowable about there jobs. Not my 1st time returning & not my last either."

"Nurse practitioner (Kathy) I saw today couldn’t have cared less about the reason why I was there. And it showed. I’m not surprised the one star reviews mention the nurse practitioner and the lack of help they received. Go elsewhere I promise it’s worth it. What a waste of time and money spent at doctors care in west Ashley. New building. Same horrible care."

"Last update - they just did a follow up call to see how I was doing from the pointless visit I had in which I received no help. I told them I was fine after going to a different provider for treatment where they actually gave me meds to feel better. She said “ok great! Have a good day” - did not seem concerned that I just came and paid them for absolutely nothing! Unbelievable!!!!!!!! Update - I went to a different doctor. Sure enough I need steroids and antibiotics! Nurse practitioner did not take my symptoms seriously and blew me off. They asked if I wanted a Covid or flu test I told them I would do whatever is recommended. She said she didn’t think it was necessary. Believes I just had a cold and there was nothing she could do. Horrible bedside manner, awkward and not comforting. She seems to be misinformed about medication - may want to take a continuing education course on prescription and OTC meds in order to understand what they actually do and how the help. I will not be returning and if you actually want medical care I wouldn’t recommend going to this doctors care or seeing this “provider”."

"Don’t schedule an appointment on-line without calling first. I sprained my ankle and needed an X-ray. Saw NP who didn’t say until end of appointment we don’t have an X-ray tech available today. I had to go to James Island to have one done. I realize staffing issues can happen but this should be clearly noted on-line that no X-rays available today. I would have gone straight to James Island for my complete care. Otherwise place was efficient and staff very professional."
