"I was so happy to finally have seen an actual doctor. I have been going to May River Derm. for 4 years and never saw a doctor. Dr Beard is the physician I saw. She was thorough and she also did surgery on a basal cell carcinoma which is healing quite nicely. I also had a lot of concerning raided skin discoloration so, instead of freezing them she had me do a complete face and chest cream treatment. That worked out without any scarring or discoloration. My experience has been pleasant and informative and it cost the same that it cost at May River dermatology with better care. Front office was more attentive and more pleasant than May River Derm. I rarely write reviews so this must have been exceptional for me."
"Maybe my 5 star review isn’t fair bc they did not do any procedures on me…BUT idk why this place has negative reviews Dr. Beard was very nice/professional and so was all the staff. They were quick and on time. They explained everything and the office was very clean."
"Sooo I went here to have my moles burnt off about a month ago through a process called electrodessication. I was told that it was a faster healing process and it shouldn't leave a scar. Now I have hyperpigmentation in the areas that the nurse burnt. I already have issues with my skin so I really wish I would've kept the moles on my face. I called to talk to the particular woman who burnt my moles off and she had some other woman call me back (I've been trying to contact her the past couple of weeks btw)..I told her what was going on ..and she told me that was always a possibility that they tell their patients..okayyyyy?? Well that's something that the lady who did my procedure should've mentioned. She really acted like I was going to be soo thankful later and I'm soo regretful now. Thanks"
"This past winter I was referred to Dermatology Associates by my Primary Care Physician for the examination and removal an underarm skin tag. The appointment was made and I went to the office located on Lady's Island. I spent the customary time filling out the paperwork and made a $50 co-payment for the visit at this time. I was then led to an examination room. At this point a female practitioner (Nurse? Assistant?) looked at the skin tab under my arm and told me the doctor would be in shortly. In less than 5 minutes an older gentleman who never introduced himself came into the exam room with the lady who looked at my skin tab and proceeded to spray the area with some sort of freezing aerosol. The gentleman was having difficulty getting enough liquid out of the can and kept shaking it and saying he thought there was enough left (presumably to get the job done). He also sprayed an area on my right nipple that has a skin eruption of some sort. I was told that they were finished and I should have a follow up appointment in a month. After several days there was no change to either of the "treated" areas so I called the office and asked what should be happening. I was told it could take better that a week for the skin tag to begin to dry and fall off. I was also asked if I had been given any instructions after my appointment and I told them no I had not. But expecting something to happen and with a follow up appointment scheduled I was not concerned. At the month end I went back to the Lady's Island Office and was somewhat disappointed that nothing had happened to the skin tab or the nipple blemish. But before I could say Hello I was told I would need to pay an additional $135 since my deductible had not been satisfied. I asked what for since I had paid $50 and assumed my insurance had fulfilled the balance due for an office visit (the insurance had indeed paid an additional $20). I told the office clerks that since I had spent approximately 7 minutes with a nurse? and who I believe was a doctor for a treatment that did not work I wasn't prepared to pay an additional $135. The clerks told me that without payment I would not get to see the doctor, so I said OK and went home A couple of days later I bought $1.35 worth of dry ice, went home a broke off a small piece and froze the heck out of that skin tab and nipple blemish. Within a week they both fell off. Ending a long story, Dermatology Associates has sent this $135 to a collection agency. I can pay the $135 but will not because I did not receive appropriate or satisfactory care. Both my wife and I have attempted to speak with an office manager or doctor in charge. I did speak with someone named Karen who said she would talk to the doctor about this but I have not heard back now for three weeks except for the collection agency. This practice is obviously more concerned about it;'s $135 than it's patients. Call someone else for your acne, skin blemishes or what ever dermatological needs you might have."
"I arrived at my appointment and told that I have to pay out of pocket bc my procedure is not covered under a copay bc it can become expensive. However, they can put it towards my deductible. They never advised me of this when my appointment was made via telephone and my insurance information was provided. So I not only wasted my time but also wasted gas to drive there only to walk out untreated and very angry. I asked why they never advised me of this at the time my appointment and insurance information was provided and they didn't have an answer."
