Reviews of Mental Health Department
"For some reason, my doctor referred me to this place when they're not in my insurance providers network. I asked admissions how much would this would cost and I find it super sketchy that they couldn't tell me until after my appointment and they recommended I call my insurance provider to see if they were in my network. So, since money is an issue, I can't afford to wing it and had to cancel the appointment. This place looks expensive too. Would not recommend if you're tight on money."
"If I could give a lower rating I would. I called a week ago requesting an rx. You are supposed to give 24-72 hour notice. Was assured my Rx was forwarded to Publix and I would have the pills today. Went to Publix...no Rx. Called the nurse who promised me the Rx would be ready and the front office wouldn't put me through to her. This is only one of the problems I've had with them. If I had another place to go...I would. Unfortunately I've been going to them since 2004 and there are no other options. Never had problems in Ridgeland office...just Beaufort. Would recommend someone else but you're stuck with these incompetent people."
"The counselors do not return phone calls. The director does not welcome parent involvement. They provide half truth to the court."
"My dad got cancer and I was working long hours with health problem in far distance. No one ever told me Bipolar 1 has depressed mood. I wish they can teach all the family members about this illness information. They only asked me to watch out for manic (High energy) and no sleeping sign. I don't ever know how to tell is a person getting depressed or getting well? I wish they can tell me to take Bipolar member to the emergency room or a place to let my mom to stay until she got recover. All they gave me is a after hour phone number. I had been telling them my mom has been worry for some items since 6 years ago, her anxiety was getting worse from over time. All they did was moved the Dr. appointment closer. I asked my mom how was the appointment and what type of question did the doctor asked you? She always told me, “ same as usually (Dr asked her how are you, how do you feel, straight up your hands).” It tooks a week to get confirmed one question for my mom needed to increased sleeping pills. Mom saw Dr. a month before and the RN was almost two weeks before her suicide. They are very busy, RN sent me an email on the same day that she wants to come to my mom home to see her. I only check personal email after work, and by the time I checked my email I already missed the nurse visit time. If they didn’t suggested my mom try the new med, my mom won’t suicides. “Dr. stated we can change your Mom to Lamictal, however, she does not feel it will hold her psychosis. She also feels it will not reduce the tremors but we can try.“ I told them no on the phone, since it’s not going to hold her psychosis. “Dr. said that her neurologist wants a trial of the lamictal and she would like follow his advice”."
"Great staff. They are friendly, helpful for all ages. Once you are a client there, you are assigned a single counselor. They don't bounce you from one never if the staff to another. They also have an emergency walk-in counselor available who on that particular day does only the walk-in clients. If you come in for that service, you may have a wait as there might be another walk-in clients ahead of you."
