Reviews of Newberry Mental Health Clinic
"Couldn't even get my child seen place is an absolute joke. No one at reception but when they walked out 5 minutes later they said we were late and had to reschedule. When we were sitting in the waiting lobby. I got him out of school and took my other 2 kids out here with me 45 minutes away for no reason. No one else even there but they can't see him? Lazy is the only excuse."
"If you are in urgent mental health need please come here. If you aren’t in urgent need then find someone who cares to help you! On my second appointment, I couldn’t get past the front desk. The docs may be great, I don’t know, but I am in a worse state of mind than before my 12:40 appt yesterday!"
"Utterly horrid. Came in seeking near crisis help for BPD that this very facility diagnosed years prior. Anyone (Heaven forbid the folks in charge of treating the malady) who knows this disorder knows the related sensitivity points…… With prior discretion, I “failed” supposed “checkpoints” of preliminary care per succumbence of my preexisting disease. I was literally told at intake “you seem like the sweetest person”… however, I was treated as inhumanely as could be when it was determined that I didn’t fit the literal bill (can’t think of another reason I was shunned) in accordance with this business’s agenda. Intake personnel ‘Monica Boyd’ very literally showed me to the door after my having not met undisclosed guidelines of treatment (who knew there was such for such a complex disorder as Borderline Personality Disorder) for a severely labile/touch and go mental disorder that the facility had extensive documentation of as my preexisting diagnosis…? The same dingbat also told me, generally speaking, “if you don’t love your man, somebody else will”…. So that was classy at least. Anyway, they no exaggeration— and more abruptly than I can articulate— showed me to the door after performing superficial intake… told me to (impossibly, after that superior let down during a mental crisis) have a good day/weekend repeatedly, and that was it. No mention of how my failure to meet ‘standards’ may contradict the institution’s mission or plan of care… no nothing. Said I may receive a call back if I’m deemed eligible for treatment at this place of “”care””. Lol. I’d be damned to trust my mental health with this ostracizing concentration camp. Not sure if all THAT is more disturbing OR the fact that psychiatrists/counselors/anyone affiliated with this establishment, who should have entered the profession to HELP actual mental disorders, stand behind such a prejudice operation. Be prepared to be treated by this business as unwelcome as your disorder is to you. Operative classification: this is a BUSINESS rather than a bastion for your psychological welfare. I’ve given the grace of time before posting this review, but have not heard back in weeks. This has put me in a predicament beyond comprehension, most problematically without ANY real explanation or alternative resources to further my desire for treatment. God forbid someone aside from me be more critically depressed and hopeless when they instill trust in these inept group of individuals. I’m alarmed after seeing FAR more accommodating help that is rather standard out of state, after working in the field myself. I implore you to think twice before stepping foot through the doors of this hell hole."
"I’ve had very severe depression and suicidal thoughts for many years and I finally decided to get help here, my therapist said that she just can’t take me anymore bc there are more important patients to take care of, I still suffer as much as I did when I walked in for the first time. They did nothing to help. They said I was lying. I wasn’t. If anything therapy made me very paranoid. I got discharged because there were “more important people to take care of”. It made me feel unwanted. It made me feel like I wasn’t worth anything. I hated every bit of therapy. Never waste your time here."
"My counselor and my doctor have been very helpful to me. I am confident that I am receiving the best care. The staff is always courteous and friendly. They are helping me to learn that just coping with my problems is not enough. I am working through each issue and am grateful that I came to them when I did. Coping just isn't enough. If you don't face your problems and deal with them, you are just adding more stress in your life. Nobody needs more stress. When people tell you that all you need is to just put it behind you and forget about it; all you need to do is work/play harder and everything will be just fine; that is when you stop, look back on what is happening in your life and ask for help. THERE IS NO STIGMA IN ASKING FOR HELP WITH YOUR MENTAL HEALTH. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS AS IMPORTANT AS YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH. They are helping me, let them help you. We all need to balance our mental, physical, emotional health in order to live our best lives. Once you reach out for help, you have taken the first step in your recovery. Good luck; good health; good life!!"
