Reviews of Bulloch County Board-Education
"Fire all of them we need school choice"
"I’m highly disappointed in the decision the BOE made for nevils and stilson elementary regarding the school staying open during a power outage that started Tuesday evening august 8th ,2023. The school was open like normal today august 9th 2023 parents proceeded to drop their students off send them by bus with out any notice of the school having no power till 9am. Then apparently an email was sent at 10:15 per BOE about dismissal for bus riders only at 11:20 am . Car rider kids were not said be allowed to be dismissed and were aloud to stay and finish out the school day per BOE . As well as stay for after school program with NO AIR , NO normal Functioning Water or food except anything sustainable with out being cooled. They had staff and children there majority of this day in the heat, closed in with out air . The physical damage and medical issues this could cause is absolutely ridiculous that they were willing to risk and still risk knowing they have no estimated time of restoration of power or working air . With a school that houses kids as young as 4 years old. Staff was sweaty and seemed miserable as any person stuck in a hot uncomfortable environment that ultimately the BOE chose to put them and these elementary age students in. They had more than appropriate time to cancel school or turn parents away this morning knowing they had no ETA on power also limited resources and ability to operate not only normally but safely as doors and other things don’t work as they should do to power loss. So someone please explain to who in their right mind made this decision rightfully . they should be held accountable and maybe questioned on their ability to chose in the best interest of not only my child but others. My children are 5 and 7 and shouldn’t had to endure this. Nor any other child , or staff member. This is ridiculous. So how can I go forward knowing the BOE can do their job adequately? How can I feel confident that my child’s safety and others are first and foremost because today it wasn’t. So what does the future decision hold ? And how can any parent feel reassured now."
