Reviews of Mary Telfair Women's Hospital
"I recently had a c section here and the team was amazing! Dr. Tucker did a great job with the incision and delivery and my anesthesiologist was wonderful. The nurses that took care of me afterwards were kind and helpful; LaCameo, Lauren, Sarah, and others. Thank you!"
"My girl & I recently delivered our baby boy via C Section. The staff was amazingly accommodating, very polite, and treated our baby boy as if he were their own. Thank you to your wonderful staff for the safe and healthy welcoming of our baby boy!"
"I have 4 children, and my last baby was born here instead of Memorial. Worst mistake I’ve ever made. I had a scheduled C section, after which, the inexperienced nurse could not get the O2 sensor on her correctly, so her oxygen level was all over the place. This led them to take her to the NICU for observation. No one would bring a wheelchair to us, so I had to walk across the hospital mere hours after major surgery. They ran many tests on our daughter and decided to keep her in the NICU. I was attempting to establish breastfeeding, and wanted to remain nearby. They provided me with a wood rocking chair with no cushioning to sit in and nurse my hours old baby. There was an entire wing of this “NICU” that was empty, with unused equipment covered in plastic. In that area there were approximately 10 comfortable recliners. When my husband asked if we could move one over and told them I had given birth via c section, he was told that they had to save them just in case. We spent 5 days in the NICU because the baby’s oxygen level [allegedly] dipped into the 70ish percent ONCE. It was hands down the absolute worst experience of my entire life. Their lack of care for my condition after birth nearly led to me developing preeclampsia. I still can’t hardly stand to think about the birth of my last baby. My anxiety and blood pressure skyrocket. If you have a choice, go to Memorial. I will never go to this hospital again for anything."
"We had a wonderful experience here with the birth of our first baby. We came in on 12/19 to start the induction process. We delivered via C-section at 9:53pm on 12/20. Would have rated 5 stars, but we had such a bad taste left in our mouth by the person that had the wheelchair I had to dock a star. (See last paragraph for explanation.) On the positive! The nurses in the labor and delivery as well as the mother-baby unit were all very kind. They were respectful of much needed sleep times in both areas (as much as they could while still checking vitals, etc.). The ladies in the mother-baby department were incredible though. They were informative, kind and sooo helpful. They all gave different tips on swaddling, breastfeeding, and even soothing tips/tricks when baby is being fussy. The only negative experience I had was when we were leaving. The lady that came with the wheelchair was incredibly rude and impatient. I had been feeding my newborn, and she had the audacity to act annoyed when we weren't immediately ready to go. (This was despite her coming earlier than expected.) She even told us, "I have other patients." I had to snap back at her that I was in an incredible amount of pain and had been cluster feeding my child all morning, so she could wait 10 minutes while I put in a bra, a shirt, and some pants. She backed off after that, but, still, so rude. I know people have jobs to do, but a little kindness and patience goes a long way. Especially when dealing with patients that had major abdominal surgery and are also dealing with a newborn."
"My first time here. My labor and delivery experience was HORRIBLE. I came in there with the ultimate goal of not to have a csection. That did not happen. I didn't trust my nurse she said one thing then did another she was more fascinated with my personal affairs then my general health. Once I reached Mother Baby unit the care was awesome! My night nurses were God sent. My daytime nurses were great! The dietitians did not knock they just burst into your room door. They don't know if you are getting undressed, nursing, etc. Overall I wished I would have went to memorial. Sorry."
