"East Cooper Hospital called me 5 days prior to scheduled Surgery and stated that I needed to pay an amount which was over my total out of pocket for the year if I wanted to have the Surgery. I needed the Surgery, so I paid the over the out-of-pocket amount. Have you heard of (Balance Billing) what this is and it is not legal. Now the Hospital personal after over 2 hours on the phone and transferred to numerous individuals stated I can get refunded in 30-45 days. It took the Hospital about 2 minutes to take the money, but I will have to wait for a refund. Then another individual said that I could receive my full refund within 15 days, I again asked you can take money in a couple minutes but will not refund for days. Be Careful with this Hospital... I have learned that you Don't have to pay anything prior to a service until your Insurance Company has provided you with the (EOB) explanation of benefit's, which you will receive after the Insurance has approved all services you received. When a place of service demands that you have to pay an amount prior to service if you what the service, this is false YOU DONT NEED TO PAY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU RECEIVE EOB FROM INSURANCE."
"Waited hours for the doc to walk in my room for 90 seconds total. He literally walked in, assessed my thumb, rubbed some glue on it, and ran out. I appreciate efficiency, so I'm not upset by the doctor giving me 90 seconds of his time and running away essentially. With context of the type of wound and nature of ER other people needing critical care that makes sense kind of..? I'm REALLY upset that it took HOURS to get that done. Waited HOURS for 90 seconds. Bombarded by front desk to fill out digital paperwork but my phone is dead. Then they come and complain to me that I should have completed it well maybe if I didn't have to wait so long my phone might still be alive and I could complete it for ya? Luckily I was confident that I knew the exact care my thumb needed. If I didn't I would be really upset in the lack of confidence given to me that it was treated correctly, given that there was 90 seconds of care and no follow up to see how it looked after glue was put on it?"
"I went in 1/10/24 for an induction and had my baby 1/13/24. I cannot say enough good things about my experience! Every single nurse in labor and delivery and mom and baby were amazing! We were there for quite sometime, so we met a bunch of nurses and every single one was very caring and attentive. They were also very informative. I was nervous about the epidural and they sent up the person who does it and he took the time to talk me through all the concerns and explain the process to me. Made me feel good about getting it when I was so scared to get it at first. I met with two different lactation consultants as well after having my baby and they both taught me a lot! Dr. White from Lowcountry OBGYN delivered my baby and she did amazing! The entire time they walked me through the induction and the delivery process. The food was good for me, I am a picky eater and I enjoyed every meal. Your spouse/support person will either need to go to the cafeteria, bring food or order/go out and get food. I definitely recommend your spouse/support person bring their own pillows and blankets as well as towels for you and them, but the couch does pull out in both rooms for them to sleep on."
"Hospital visits are rarely pleasant except for expectant parents. In our case my wife selected East Cooper to undergo knee replacement. We have nothing but the highest praise for the treatment she received from everyone we encountered. That includes reception, security, even cafe staff. Special thanks to the 4th floor nurses , PA and therapists who were so diligent and caring post op. Compassionate , responsive, professional. At one point my wife suffered a post op crisis that was handled by an incredible emergency response team . We are both extremely grateful to a highly trained group of medical professionals."
