Reviews of Coastal Empire Montessori
"My daughter hated this school. Her teachers made negative remarks about her not having friends. I would have to beg the teacher to communicate with me. You weren’t allowed to drop in on classes. The paraprofessional told her that her drawings were ugly. She was only in first grade. My daughter went there two years ago and still talks about how miserable she was. Worst mistake I ever made as a parent. Still beating myself up about it."
"Controlling agreeing with that. No talking at lunch for ten minutes after that it is whispering. I understand that at lunch kids shouldn't be screaming but not speaking normal at all? Whispering isn't good for the vocal cords FYI it puts strain on the vocal cords. When can they be a kid? I told my child we are touring other schools and that at lunch she will be able to talk normal and she replied with "you can do that, talk at lunch?" Love Montessori but not all these over top rules. I like how teachers knows my child by name that's a plus. I like the hands on work. I don't like how you can't drop your child off and park and walk her to class. (It's my child she won't be this small for ever) Also, that the structure is all trailers when are they gonna get a building? It's been like what 2009 since they opened up. Another big concern anyone can walk in the front trailer no security ! Doors are not locked. It just stinks I can deal with the trailers I guess ;but the no security and no talking and over top rules and every year you will have to take a quiz over the handbook every year it's mandatory. I get it one test ok I understand so parents know the rules but, every year why? Are you trying to embed it in our brains or something. I understand at all school theirs pros and cons and you just have to weigh it out. What fits with you. I'm really torn and disappointed at this school. I suggest read reviews see if it fits your taste and go from their. Good luck to every parent choosing the right school it is hard because everything can go swell and look good at tour time and the beginning then you see how they really treat the kids. One review says cult like. I wouldn't say to that extent but, feels more like way to strict. Boils down to this strict rules; no security ;no traditional building vs. Montessori method hands on ; random teachers knowing your child by name. I hope this school can change their ways and build a building and not keep saying it's in the works every year and also not be so controlling towards the kids then it would be a great school."
"I loved the teachers and the small class rooms. I did not like that my child was being bullied, and they did absolutely nothing about it. And advised me not to use the word "BULLIED" I went as far as a board meeting. My child was hutr on numerous occasions and I was not informed by the school, who knew about the problem. But my child notified me. I had to take my child to an urgent care for x-rays and care after he got home from school and clasped. Due to another student whom had Constantly picked on my child and finally physically hurt him. He was older than my son. He should not have been in the same room with my child. The school took no action. It was supposed to be a privilege for him to go to the school. It ended up being my worst decision ever. And when he switched back to public school he was so far behind he had to repeat kindergarten. It was a nightmare for me and my family. I Would not recommend this school unless they got rid of the people running the school. They need proper people running the school. And I agree it was cult like. So disappointing. Get rid of Stephanie that runs the school and get someone in there with common sense and a smart mind. They my get better. But other than that. Public school is teaching my child way more. And in Chatham Co. The schools are not that good at all. And costal empire was worse.... my child is now thriving and advancing. Thank you CEMCS for my child not learning a thing besides kids are crule......"
"Too cultish and controlling!"
"I went there when they first opened and those were the best days of my life. I loved that school, all of the teachers were fair, i loved the activities. Today i go to a public school and Montessori was way better. The whole school felt like one big family. Definitely five stars!"
