"Wish I could give 0 stars. The teachers & staff are very rude. Not understanding at all! They claim a flexible schedule but then have mandatory livelessons certain days & times. They will withdraw your child for anything & do not help whatsoever in your child's area of struggling. I am so glad they decided to withdraw my children, SC Connections Academy is far superior, if you're thinking of enrolling your kid in online school do not go with SCVCS if you truly need a flexible schedule & your child need extra help in something."
"We have been waiting over two weeks for approval for our daughter. Our older one was approved nearly immediately. Since then we have had 0 communication, they were supposed to call to go over the documents and never did. They were supposed to call to go over my daughters classes that was accepted and never did. Called repeatedly to K12 and to SCVCS and was on hold for over and hour. Never had messages returned. They finally sent me an email saying it’s ok to miss school just wait longer. I am not keeping my child from school. You’ve had two weeks, I can only imagine how bad it will be if there’s an issue after she’s accepted. I would not recommend them and I would recommend writing the SC Board of Education."
"Not a very professional school. Academically your child may or may not do well without a complete 500% effort from you. Be ready to WORK because there's a select few good teachers but some will not help you. The office staff, Administration, and the principal does not return any calls or emails. They'll also withdraw your applications without notice and never contact you about it or tell you why it was withdrawn. All in all, SCVCS isn't dependable and could very well mess up what you have going. I'm very persistent, but even staying on top of them doesn't always help. Escalating any issues to the office does no good because like I said before they never respond. Don't waste your time or your child's opportunity to get an education. Make a different choice."
"This is a virtual charter school, in which your child is in the comfort of the home getting an education. I think it works for some kids but makes them lazy if not pushed to stay on track. The school system is very different from public school. There is also poor communication when reaching out to some counselors and the principal of the school Dr. Cherry. The classes are not bunch together and at one time my child had a full day and it kept them busy. The school credits are different, which im not happy about and they do not go on any activities anymore, which would be great for kids in the same environment come together. I will not say its a bad choice but you have to way the pros and cons and do whats right for your child to succeed. The school also does not do enough to recognize our young children nor our 2020 graduates. I am not going to recommend this particular school for lack of communication, poor leadership in administration team as well as the CEO, lack of event programs, lack of recognition of our children."
"We have had three children attend SCVCS. The staff at this virtual charter school has very poor communication skills. They are also very unorganized. For two years our children have had to start classes late because the staff does not process the re enrollment on time. We have informed them that they would be returning before the summer ended and the school still manages not to process the information on time. So then we have to call and get many different run arounds about what needs to be done to complete it. So then they ask for every single document as though the children are new to the school!! And this Anita Lathem who was the assistant principal and is now the principle of the high school has never returned a phone call since 2017!!!!! How is this school even able to stay accredited?? The teachers are saving this school from total closure!! The Dept of education needs to investigate K12 and provide much needed oversight."
