SMC - Mary Black Campus - Inpatient Psychiatry

"Staff on this unit really need to understand that these patients are not in their right mind and should really screen visitors better. They don't even check visitors to know if contraband is being provided. There should be an individualized approach regarding the circumstances of how a pt. got into a psychiatric unit to begin with. People who have put someone's life at risk by dropping an incoherent person who can not even answer simple questions to an emergency room with no information should not be permitted to see a psychiatric pt. just because "they're an adult and can decide who visits them." If the pt were able to make the right decisions they would not need to be at a psych unit. After a pt. has been told that this situation is how he arrived to the emergency room and still think these people are "friends," then clearly that person is not in their right mind and lacks proper decision making. The pt. is clearly being used and manipulated. Only a person who has something to hide would drop off an extremely confused individual to the ER and leave without even waiting to see if additional information is needed. Vulnerable adults need better protection than this because they are more than likely unable to protect themselves from harm and/or exploitation."

"They serve good food but that's pretty much all they do for you. Total ridiculousness. Stuck me with bills i can't afford to pay and barely treated me at all besides putting me on meds which literally any psychiatrist could do. Over half the "activities" they were suppose to do they didn't do and the social workers barely did anything at all and did absolutely nothing on a individual basis. Total scam."
