"This Hospital is a death trap. Complete with head nurses giving out information over the phone to persons told to her directly not to tell. My nurses name was Kayla, from Spartanburg Regional. And she decided to hold medicine, she tried to diagnose me and tried to get me to sign a form I'd never seen. Bad place"

"This weekend a friend was rushed to Spartanburg and then transferred to Mary Black due to overcrowding. Since her arrival she has been treated with the utmost professionalism and compassion. Having spent a couple of days in the room with her (on the ortho floor despite it being a Gastro issue), I can honestly say I would not hesitate to come here again for whatever I may need. The facility was sparkling clean. The nursing staff incredibly kind and compassionate. The doctors thorough with a great bedside manner. Hands down the best hospital experience I have ever encountered in my 58 years!"

"Discharged with Blood Pressure 197/97 from ER…. I wasn’t given anything for My Blood Pressure while there, despite having on a heart monitor from my cardiologist. I filed a grievance with Guest Services. Guest Services stated that the MD acted within Clinical Guidelines.. Can anyone explain?? Did the parameters for Hypertension Change?? No need to call number for guest services, ( automated reply to all reviews)! Maybe medical board or attorney."

"I just want to give a BIG shout out to the Mary Black ER last night!!!! The entire team! From registration to triage nurse, CNA, room nurses, doctor and all the way up to the housecleaning! I have not had to go to the ER in over 28 years, thankfully fairly healthy, but had to use this as an option only because PCP and urgent care told me to go there instead. I am so so appreciative of the efficiency with the added smiles and comforting care with my care!!! Thank you so much, but I hope not to have to see you all again unless on the other side of the door helping!!! Thank you! Sincerely! Superstars!!! Awesome!"

"I am speaking on the Emergency department & nowhere else in the hospital as I’ve not been to other parts! I do know the ICU took amazing care of my cousin! So this is solely the Emergency department I’m referring to in the rest of this post. There is maybe one blonde nurse with long hair who actually can crack a smile & not act annoyed to be alive, much less at work. I saw many parents having to fetch basic things themselves for their sick children, as I have two times when I have visited with mine. Blanket. Cup of water. Pillow. Heck…a fitted sheet on the bed without blood and other people’s hair….! Let me almost mention the nurses have plenty of time to play on their phones but no time to clean up apparently. The Janitors were doing their job!!! Anyways, I was unfortunately finding myself there again a few days ago, I’m not going to go into much detail but the nurses were total JUNK, & the Doctor was even worse. She came in and directly lied to my face. I then countered back with questions as she knew I must be onto her. She claimed she called my Doctor & “he said” she wasn’t allowed to do something. (That they have done before, so do other hospitals everyday) Well funny thing is, My doctor is a female. She wasn’t open to be called. The following morning I drove to my doctor. She said nobody called us, and they shouldn’t have had to call us because that should have just been taken care of immediately. It’s a routine thing for the emergency room. And told me due to the whole story I needed to start filing complaints because in Mary Black denying that basic care, we could have been in serious infection mode within less than 48 hours. I said I knew she didn’t call because she kept referring to you as a male and then to say you said things you didn’t!!!! She was very upset, so was her staff who overheard. They need to get rid of their bad attitude nurses & lying Doctors. I will never trust these people again. And I am considering going forward with more over this, as this is unacceptable. This was my child you could have hurt very bad over your lies."
