"My brief interaction , via phone with Timothy, who answered my call to Patrick Harris , was so uplifting and attentive. He had a pleasant knowledgeable disposition and was very supportive and patient with me while I explained my dilemma. If we had more people in the state of SC, like Timothy, who genuinely CARE about people with mental health issues, then the state would allocate more education , funds, jobs, pay increases for current mental health workers and more facilities to be able to help people who are in need and don’t “qualify” because of antiquated protocols. I wish people in SC would stop taking no for answers to mental health questions and stand up to politicians who have power to update laws and procedures for getting actual help for this very present illness called, Psychiatric Disabilities. Let’s get it together SC. Thank you"
"My ex wife is in there and ask to see her told me no cause she trys to hurt herself from what the caseworker said it shouldn't be up to caseworker should ask ex but yet that place is killing her also by druging them up by giving them pills to shut them up that place kills people and don't care."
"I was sent here years ago by my former primary care physician when I accidentally overdosed and when asked a question about death, apparently my answer was taken to mean that I was actually suicidal. It was pretty much like going to jail but the food was worse and 95% of the patients who agreed to take medication were walking around like zombies or obviously not mentally stable. I asked how to get out the quickest and was told to refuse medication and I should be out in 5 days. It was a horrible experience and I did not benefit from it whatsoever except for learning what not to say if you ever do get asked those kinds of questions. I spoke with a doctor once on the day prior to my release and just like all government funded psychiatric facilities in SC, if anything it made my mental health worse."
"I wound up in this place because I’d cut my arm. They took me from the hospital to this place after my telling them I was alright. The place was very unclean and for some reason their budget wasn’t enough for the basics like detergent for clothes. It was this cheap soap for everything and they didn’t clean properly. Not to mention it was like jail more than a hospital. Unfriendly staff and I was afraid they wouldn’t let me go. For a place that’s supposed to help all they did was have us play games a five year old would play. It was freaking weird how it operated. Was so thankful when they told me to go."
