"A very quiet spot on a rural road, this marker points out the birthplace of an important person whose life affected another important person. The marker has the same text on both sides. It reads, "The spiritual mentor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Born here in 1894. Served as president of Morehouse College 1940-67 and as presidential advisor. Died in 1984." It is marker number 24-13 and was erected in 1995 by Greenwood County."
