Reviews of Clothes Mentor
"A complete rip off! Sold all brand new items with the exception of maybe 1 item. I received $46.70, which means they gave me about $2.33 for each of my items. I also notice they never categorize my clearly labeled Farm Rio items which are very expensive under Anthropologie or Farm Rio, and they label a lot of the items under Clothes Mentor (cheap brand) instead of the brand it actually is so they can purposely low ball me even more. I also wonder if they give black people less money for their items. Also, whether they offer more money for new items w/tags attached. I know for a fact there is known history of low balling black people when it comes to selling their homes or anything else for that matter. I find it interesting how little I get when selling at this place where there is absolutely no diversity in the people that work here. That alone is a red flag. This place needs to shut down. Everyone working here should go find a job at a place where having integrity is a requirement because they are basically taking people’s nice items and screwing them over by giving them pennies, then charging three to four times more when they resale them. In turn they call it doing good work in the community. Smh!"
"Severely disappointed how low the offers were comparing 11 item to 30 (listed as 28) items with more than 90% name brand, and a lot of new items. The price I was quoted on designer bags and what they would be sold for isn’t the price listed on the website. Some of the high end items had tags. I have pics of every item and don’t understand how greed can make people low ball others on quality items. Def of greed-intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. If someone sells designer items that you small greedy company pays $10 on $400 bag that you then sell on your website for $900 (not the $500) you quoted it’s greed. Small owned businesses are just as accountable as large. Designer items sold on websites for big money but you offer the original buyers Pennies. If you aren’t paying your staff a livable wage, the SBA has prgms that assist with that issue. PPP loans also exists. As I stated, no better than goodwill and everything is just a donation for them to overcharge online. $1600 worth of stuff vs $4500 and only offer 10 dollars more. I guess it’s the price of business in SC."
"I love Clothes Mentor to BUY from, but as far as selling, well that’s another story. I offered a pair of expensive Golden Goose Midstar sneakers to them and they offered to pay me around $8.90 for $550 shoes. And this was AFTER they explained the luxury brand buying process to me. BEWARE when you bring this location a luxury item. They obviously have no idea what they are doing. Even their own website has GGDB shoes starting at $179 a pair currently… like today…. On the low end. The highest pair on their website is $455. How does that make any sense? So you are going to give me less than ten bucks on a pair of shoes you will sell for WELL OVER $100? My jaw absolutely hit the floor when the employee told me this! BEWARE AND KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE!"
