"Visited Charleston this week for the first time. Booked a room at the Cambria Hotel. I was on a budget and the hotels on Charleston proper were too expensive. I crossed my fingers and I was pleasantly surprised with the Cambria. The Room was very modern and clean. The surroundings were safe. The bedding was very comfortable. The staff at the desk including Raven and Haquika and restaurant were genuinely friendly. Easy trip into Charleston by car. Great value!"
"Really happy with the hotel itself and the location - close to downtown and many other attractions. Overall, service was good - we were greeted and checked in quickly. The housekeeping staff were cheery and friendly when we saw them in the hallway. My only issue with staff was that I purchased a spoon at Target and it was removed by the housekeeping staff (they must have thought it was the hotels), when I called down to get a spoon brought up to my room, the staff member laughed at me and told quite rudely that I needed to go downstairs to get it myself, as if my request was completely unreasonable. Aside from that, we didn't have any issues."
"Stayed for 1 night. Very spacious room did receive a handicapped room. The room was quiet, bed was nice and soft. No free breakfast, have to pay for it. Did have free coffee. The area seemed safe. Really liked the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom. Was able to stay and leave the car for a cruise at the hotel."
"Staff was terrific. Raven on the front desk was wonderful. Very helpful and made me feel comfortable. Had an extended stay while my husband was in hospital. Negative: door in restaurant/bar area did not lock down. It was that way the whole week I was there. Staff was aware of it. Definitely a safety issue."
"The room itself was fine and clean, but it was strange that there were no hooks to hang towels in the bathroom and the shower didn't have a door so water would leak all over the place. It looked cool, but definitely not effective. Not the hotel's fault, but definitely odd. However, the sole reason I'm giving a review was that there was no mention whether or not breakfast would be included in our stay. The way that the front desk staff mentioned the time of breakfast, it came across like any other hotel being complimentary in your stay. There was no mention at all of it being a separate charge. The following morning we went down to get coffee and breakfast, the service staff member that provided breakfast was rude, late and taking his time setting up the food, and didn't acknowledge anyone waiting. We brushed this off because it wasn't a huge deal and are former food industry people--but then this same staff member less than 10 minuets later just drops the bill on our table without saying anything...asking for a tip on the bill...still not uttering a single word. Again, I usually don't do surveys because you can't expect much from a hotel stay, and we didn't mind paying for the food. But it would've been nice to know that the breakfast buffet for two people would cost $30. Food that was also not worth totaling $30 at all... Just a lovely heads up for future stays."
