Reviews of High Water Music Festival
"This was a great festival. The grounds were spacious and clean with plenty of food vendors, bars, and bathrooms. The view of the river was fantastic. Everything was reasonably priced."
"This was our first time to go to High Water and we were impressed! The venue was really well arranged and everything was easy to find. Getting to the porta john areas could be difficult during peak crowds, but I understand the choice to keep them all together in just a couple of areas. The food and drinks were really good, if expensive (as festival food usually is). All the staff we saw were very friendly and helpful, and there were lots of them. I also noticed lots of cops walking around, who I think mostly got to enjoy the music as I didn't see any disturbances the whole time. The weather was perfect too, with a constant breeze keeping everyone comfy. The vibe seemed to infect the artists we saw perform too. My son & I came for Beck, Wilco & Shovels & Rope. They all delivered the goods. Beck blew us away with an amazing finish. One of our favorite acts was Palm Palm, a replacement for a no show performer. They came out hot and owned the stage! That's how you answer when opportunity knocks. The whole High Water experience was incredible for us. Well worth the drive from Birmingham."
"My wife and I had a great time. We had GA tix, so the value-proposition woes of the higher-priced VIP ticket holders didn't affect us. We arrived before gates opened and stayed until the day was over on both days. Parking was no problem on arrival. Leaving was slower, but we lingered a bit on the grounds and took our time getting back to our car, and the wait wasn't bad at all; I've spent longer getting out of a high-school football game. It was probably a half mile walk from the venue entry/exit to the lot we used. The food was better than we expected, and while prices were high, for food sold to a captive audience we thought it was reasonable. Drink prices were decidedly less reasonable in our opinion. A 'double' cost $25 and was pretty light on the booze. There was free water available at dispensing locations. It was not refrigerated, but we drank what felt like 100 gallons. The lines for food, alcohol, and merch didn't seem too bad to us if you picked your spot, and the water trailers were always pretty open - I guess 6 bucks for a can of cold water was a priority for a lot of folks. The location is beautiful. There's a boardwalk on the water, and paths that run though even, grassy park. There's a bit of shade if you head to the back edges of the venue, but not much in the main area. We did have a hang up at the gate on day 2 that delayed entry for a bit, but getting in was pretty painless. We rented a locker and it was great to have. We bought merch and stashed it when we arrived; a tubed poster fits. The bands were great, and the headliners played the hits. My Morning Jacket closed with Mageetah, Jack White with 7 nation Army, Modest Mouse with Float On. We just bought tix for 2023."
"Fun festival, nice location, plenty of parking. Some lines. Food was just ok. Prices were ok. Talent line up was good."
"Line-up was fantastic BUT - who organized that hot mess?? VIP - overpriced/underperformed! Ran out of everything, all food/drink items very overpriced IF they were available. If you invite 15,000 people wouldn't you order enough food/drink options to serve them? Just mind boggling. Lines were ridiculously long. And trash - holy moly, at the end of day one the place looked like a dump. Adding 5000 people to the lovely festival we attended in 2018 really screwed things up - don't be so greedy & make the experience enjoyable again."
