Reviews of Mimis African Hair Braiding
"Just find another African shop to go to! They don’t do nun right but some braids. Got my hair twist last week & it already look like i had it 2 months! They use to b pretty decent now they just horrible! Highly don’t recommend"
"It was a very interesting experience wait time wasn't long but I asked her to wash my hair because I had some products in it she washed my hair and then got straight to my hair she used pro style styling gel to do my dreads it didn't hold the back of my hair it unraveled I already had previous locs in my hair she just had to retwist them she quoted me 50 and charged me 72"
"I love my hair. I hadn't had braids in years. They did an amazing job and took me as a walk-in."
"I am very dissatisfied with the service I received! I went in for box braids and that is not what I came out with. First off, there are no actual parts in my hair. A hair clip was used to pull small sections, so throughout my head there are braids spaced far apart. For the front, the spaces are close together. By the braids being close and the sections small, the braids are bulky, heavy and there are too many (braids) right around the front. Secondly, everything was fine until I paid and then the breaks started. At one point, she sat in the chair beside me face-timing on her phone and this continued until she left and someone else had to finish my hair. But what upset me the most, there was a second person helping and she was so rough. There were several times when I had to actually take my braids out of her hand because she was pulling on my hair too hard. Needless to say, I will NEVER do business at this establishment again! It was a waste of my time and money!!"
"The shop environment looks ok. I came in the shop wanting to get box braids and almost left with no style. The lady that was braiding my hair assured me that I didn’t have to worry and that my hair would look nice. She got really close to being done with my hair and the last thing that she was going to do was dip my ends. I got up and looked at my hairstyle and was shocked. It looked nothing like I expected. To make a long story short the lady requested me to pay half for her time, which I did and I also had to pay full price for a different style that was sub par. Most of not all of the stylist in this shop can barely braid. The only one that might be halfway decent is the older lady that is the owner of the shop. They take alllllllll day on your head and trust me that is not an understatement. They take a lot of breaks while braiding your hair. I got to the shop at 5 and I had an appointment. The lady started on my head close to 7 and I didn’t leave with a style until 3am the next morning. The only reason I stayed is because I didn’t have another shop in mind that could’ve did my hair at such short notice. Most shops in my area close at 6 and I needed a style for the next day. This is a picture of how the braids looked when she was almost done, I have a small head and the braids that were done in this picture were a lot more bulky in person. If I could give negative stars I would lol lesson learned you guys and please read reviews before you go to these African braiding hair shops. A lot of them do NOT know how to braid they just want to practice on you and take your money."
