"Maria is the GREATEST dance instructor. She puts her clients at ease and lets them be themselves while assisting them in creating routines that represent them and make the crowd happy. We LOVE Arthur Murray but Maria is the BIGGEST reason we keep coming back for more lessons. She is the Best Instructor Ever ❤️❤️"
"When I first started with Arthur Murray, I had zero experience dancing. I walked through their front door looking for something to take me completely out of my comfort zone. I found it. In the beginning I might go three or four steps before making a mistake and starting over. This is where the amazing staff at the Arthur Murray studio comes in and does their magic for someone brand new to the sport. They had a plan to get me to the “next step” and pretty soon I was really dancing. The instructors were always encouraging for someone who gets easily frustrated when they can’t do something quickly. Pretty soon I found I really loved dancing. That was 18 months ago. If you want to learn to dance, socially or competitively, this is the place. If you want to learn one specific dance or a bunch of them, these instructors know them all. All you need to do is walk through the door."
"My partner and I have been going to the Summerville studio since May of 2023 and we've thoroughly enjoyed our time with all the staff. We've made some great strides in learning new dances. It's also been an important activity for me to be involved in for confidence building and working through my anxieties. Everyone at the studio has been helpful, friendly, and attentive. They want to get to know you as people and work to make sure you're getting the most you can from your lessons. They encourage having fun and working through all the inevitable awkward phases you'll experience as you go on your dance journey. A byproduct of all this is that the encouragement is felt through the other students as well - they become extensions of their instructors, helping to support you as you practice and build your skills. If you've been tossing around the idea of taking dance lessons, come join us and just get started!"
"I have been dancing for quite a while, but am always looking to learning new styles of dance, improve my own dancing abilities, and meet new people in the dance community. While I do know how to dance many styles of dance I have never danced ballroom before and have always wanted to learn. I’ve heard great things about Arthur Murray and decided to reach out to the Summerville school in order to take lessons, but now I know that was a mistake. At first I called and emailed several times to no avail. When someone did finally reach back out to me they were incredibly rude and short with me as they refused to answer any questions that I might have about being a student (this was all via text). After about 2 weeks of calling someone finally answered my calls only to tell me that they could not give me any basic information about classes or pricing and that I would have to have a manager call me back. No one ever did. Flash forward two weeks later I still received no return calls or emails. When I followed up once again via email I finally got an incredibly short, rude response stating that I was not welcome as a student because, years ago, I taught Latin dance (which I don’t teach and haven’t taught in years) and that me being a student would be. Conflict of interest. I had no idea that me wanting to learn a style of dance that I do not know conflicts with their interest to teach a style of dance that I want to learn. This place states that it is all about community and teaching people to dance, but clearly it isn’t. There are many other places to learn to dance… I suggest going to find a school that actually cares about community and teaching others in order to watch them grow as dancers. Not only that, everyone who I spoke to or communicated with were wildly rude at every turn. I’ve never been treated so poorly by any dance community in my life. It’s very disappointing."
"This is a great place to learn how to dance for beginners or those who want to be more competitive. The instructors are top notch and very encouraging for newer dancers. There are social events and weekly group dances, so it's really a great opportunity to learn something new and make new friends."
