"We camped here for a week in our RV during the slow season in January. The park was mostly empty. It is a beautiful park. Every day we saw deer, racoons, opossums, squirrels, armadillos, and numerous types of birds. They were doing artillery exercises at a nearby military base, so there were thundering booms day and night for multiple days. We will definitely be back."
"Nice state Park, we took 5 families and all ages of kids and adults enjoyed themselves! You could tour the fort, play on the playground, geocache, enjoy the Zipline (although there was no swing - we used a hammock as the swing and it worked perfectly!), enjoy the wildlife(fish, deer, racoons, armadillos), go on trails, and you MUST eat at the restaurant right before the campground- FishTales!"
"What a well kept secret of a State Park. While Ft. McAllister was only involved in a small number of battles, the rebuild of the Fort is very well done. And the views from this park are fantastic. There is a museum, if you have a State Park Pass you can get in for free or a reduced rate depending on your pass, and the exhibits both inside and out are very well done."
"Nice tent spaces and not too close to neighboring campers. Very friendly atmosphere. Tried fishing but nothing really bites out there and it's extremely windy when fishing. Nice getaway from work and city though. Tried crabbing, got 2 crabs. I enjoyed it but had to get back to reality."
"This was a surprising park! Set way back from the hub of the museum. Through a locked gate, down a long paved road, are campsites in a nice shaded area. Some full hook- ups, most water & electric. Driving through, you will find nice large rental cabins and a playground! Lots of wildlife. Beautiful area! Quiet."
