Reviews of Live Oak Campground
"We really enjoyed our stay at Live Oak. Our site had so much privacy and shade. The trials are excellent for either walking or bike riding. We were at first disappointed that we could not get beach side, but we were glad to be with all the trees at Live Oak."
"The sites are large and private. Less buggy than the Hunting Island campground, but it is very humid and not much airflow. Definitely take care picking your site. Some are very pretty with marsh views while others border the road and have a fair bit of road noise. Beach is not walkable from here but very close drive. A major potential issue though is if you get a good storm, some of the sites get completely swamped - an inch or two of standing water across the whole thing or most of it."
"This was a quiet campground (Live Oak) located with a handful of sites right on the marsh. It was centrally located to Edisto beach as well as a piece of history at Driftwood Beach. The campground itself offers large sites as well as some tighter sites. In the campground itself—there isn’t much for children to do, but we made the best of it. The state park does offer activities at the Learning Center, but you do need to drive there. The outside of the bathhouse looked presentable, but we never went inside. There is small camp store and the campground didn’t appear to offer WiFi. There was a lot of garbage by the dumpsters and 1 dump station made for a wait, but they do look like they are in the process of adding to the dump station. The campground has beautiful Oak Trees that are admirable and provide plenty of shade!"
"This has always been one of our favorite places to camp. We have always loved it because it was somewhat of a "hidden gem". Unfortunately the last several times we have been, it has been harder to get a reservation due to its popularity. And as comes along with more people, more noise lol. The campground was still pretty nice. The bath houses left a little to be desired, with a few items in need of repair, which could just be due to the higher than normal use. Other than that the park was fairly clean and trails were well maintained."
"Nice camp area at Edisto Beach State Park. Spaces are mostly shaded and RVs have electric and water, but no sewer connections. There is a dump station across the road from the Live Oak entrance. You need to bring your own fresh water for drinking and cooking, the water is too salty. The trails are nice."
