Reviews of New York Comedy Club Stamford
"I recently visited New York Comedy Club in Stamford, CT to catch a performance by comedian Michael Kosta. The overall experience was fantastic β the ambiance and service were outstanding. The high ceilings and comfortable seating added to the enjoyment, creating a great atmosphere for comedy. Additionally, the abundance of parking was a definite plus, making the entire visit convenient and enjoyable. Highly recommend for a night of laughter."
"Terrible name branding, but putting that aside this is just an OK comedy club, especially when there are many good clubs just an hour away in NYC. We got here early for a 9:30 show and they do not have room for people to queue inside, so you have to line up outside no matter the weather. Though this is standard at many clubs, it's worth mentioning. Dress for the rain or cold. They added an 18% tip to the bill for 2 people, in a place where they give you your bill in the dark making it harder to read. There is a $20 minimum spend per person on top of your ticket cost. Again I know this is a common comedy club practice but can we just include your costs in the ticket? Not everyone drinks alcohol. Stage was well-placed but seating of bar rows was a little less than ideal. Audio is good. Parking is easy. Drinks are OK just a little overpriced even for Stamford. Overall, I would return but prefer other comedy clubs."
"I visited this venue for the first time and had an overall positive experience. Let me begin by praising the excellent staff, from the security at the door to the cashier, seater, and waiters. The interior of the place pleasantly surprised me; it's more spacious than it appears from the outside. Being the only comedy club in Stamford, and conveniently located next to the mall, it offers ample parking, which is a major plus. The comedy show itself was great, featuring comedians I wasn't familiar with. Taking a chance paid off, as they turned out to be hilarious. An unexpected argument broke out outside during the middle of the show, and one of the comedians skillfully incorporated it into her jokes. Now, onto the drawbacks. The price of two VIP tickets, at $40 each, totaling $80, plus regular CT taxes, was reasonable. However, the limited snack menu and their slightly inflated prices were a letdown. For 2 Manhattans, 2 Pepsi sodas, and 2 medium-sized cans of Pringles (the only size available), the total came to $75.21, including tax and an 18% gratuity. It felt a bit excessive, considering the offerings. The leaving process was a bit convoluted. After paying the waiter, we were supposed to receive a ticket to show security at the exit to prevent bill skipping. Unfortunately, our waiter forgot to give them to us initially, and we had to double back to get them. It would be beneficial for everyone if there were an online menu specific to this location for better planning. Despite these minor issues, we enjoyed ourselves and plan to return, making it a potential regular occurrence."
"Cool place, well managed and had a great time. Have to give only 4 stars for 2 issues: it took 35 minutes to get our popcorn and when our waiter Derek served drinks, he held the glass from the top, so that all of his fingers touched the rim, where one's mouth goes. He used that approach with all his guests. Yuck."
