"Great staff. My daughter did her senior project on abused pets and decide to volunteer there to get insight. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. My daughter really enjoyed it."
"Dead rabbits. Horrible place. Coming from a parrot lover who has been researching to own a macaw for literal years own this "Rescue" does not care about their animals. They had rabbits when I was there in the 100° Georgia weather. These rabbits had no water whatsoever. The parrots were overstuffed in their aviaries. Yes they were large but not for the hundreds of birds stuffed. I'm namely talking about the budgie, cockatiel, conure cage. It was a large one but for the amount of birds and lack of perches it wasn't good. I also noticed the macaws cage was lacking too with a lack of perches and toys. I also saw a cage with like 50 rats. For those of you that don't know rats should have padding so their little feet aren't getting damaged on the metal bars and there was no padding or enrichment just rats stuffed in a cage that would be good for maybe 3-4. Again there weren't 3-4 rats there were literally 50 all in the heat with no food or water. There was also some trailers in the back I don't know if people are living there or what. I would recommend if you truly love parrots and animals to not go here. I drove 4 hours to visit this place and was VERY disappointed. It was concerning to say the least and this place should be shut down. Feels more like a glorified hoarding situation then genuine bird lovers. They have more then they can afford to teach"
"Wonderful people pretty birds, could use more volunteers, place looks like they need more grounds keeping, amazing place glad there are places for the amazing creatures to go when there homeless."
"Feathered Friends was phenomenal to work with the re-home my late parents’ five birds. Danielle is so compassionate, patient, and understanding. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t found this place. For those people remarking about the conditions of the facility, it is a facility that has animals; it cannot be kept immaculate 24/7. The facility is adequately sanitary. And keep in mind that this place runs strictly on donations and volunteers, who are doing an excellent job. It takes a lot to keep this place going and Danielle, Bob, and the other volunteers are the heart and soul of this place. If you don’t like the way it looks, volunteer your time and donate; do something constructive other than leave a nasty review that only hurts this organization even further. You should see some of the conditions some of these animals have come from. This place saves lives. Those that had a problem adopting, this place is selective about where the birds go to, so as they don’t end up surrendered again, neglected, or mistreated. They know birds well enough to know when a person is right for adoption. I have no regrets or second thoughts about me surrendering my parents’ birds here and I am very grateful for everyone at Feathered Friends!"
"So incredibly run down and unsanitary, people smoking indoors with birds and mold growing on old pans next to bird cages. All birds are fed seed mix (very inappropriate diet for any parrot much less a macaw or even eclectus). Some of the reptiles have inadequate lights and cobwebs in their cages. Can’t believe people would board their birds here too! If your bird is boarded it gets seed mix and maybe two perches if it’s lucky, forget about toys or a clean cage. Most birds aren’t even adopted out, volunteers end up spending most their time cleaning after birds that are payed to be boarded there. Seems more like hoarding and roadside zoo than a rescue, for example there is a beautiful and gentle hyacinth macaw that could be easily adopted out, but the owner would rather let her rot in a dirty cage with no toys and seed mix just so he can say he owns a hyacinth macaw. They have maybe 2-3 outdoor cages that look up to standard that all the pics they use on the website are from, the rest are in rusting dirty cages and the large “aviaries” they brag about are sheds with no enrichment."
