"Jan 2024: First off, our hostess was also our waitress which was absolutely delightful. The nachos and fish were tasty. That being said, I have no idea how they stay in business. Our party of 2 were literally (not figuratively) the only customers in the restaurant at 4:30PM on a Wednesday evening. And literally, no other customer came into the building the entire time from when we entered the building until we left. Rice was not cooked correctly, the sandwich bread was tough and chewy, the fries were lackluster, and the appetizer was not what we expected given that we asked what exactly was in it given our dietary restrictions. (P.S. - all food contents and calorie information are not listed on their menus despite a mandatory 2018 FDA law that includes South Carolina.) Their outdoor marquee outside has letters burnt out indicating they didn't have the money to fix it. The restaurant was relatively clean, the dinner rush should have at least started by the time we left and yet no one had entered the building, and against our better judgement we went inside ignoring all of the obvious signs walking into the building. A mistake we won't make again. They get 2 stars instead of 1 because our hostess / waitress was wonderful and the fish and nachos were great."
"My recent dining experience at this restaurant was a rollercoaster of highs and lows that left me with mixed feelings. The first impression was relatively positive, with a charming albeit slightly outdated decor setting the scene. However, the cleanliness of the dining area was a major letdown. Dirty plates and glasses, old and heavily used silverware, and walls splattered with mysterious substances certainly dampened the initial appeal. The booth and surrounding areas were dusty and neglected, giving the impression of poor upkeep. On a positive note, the crab/shrimp dip was a standout, bursting with flavor, and the Caesar salad was delightful. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for my husband's Old Fashioned, which he described as "undrinkable." The replacement was forced upon us in a rather aggressive manner, leaving a sour taste in our mouths. The chicken fingers, ordered for my son, were shockingly hard and almost inedible, resembling more of a chicken jerky than a tender dish. Despite expressing our dissatisfaction, the management's response was dismissive, claiming the dish appeared tender, which did not align with our experience. The lack of communication regarding bacon bits in the shrimp and grits, coupled with an undercooked steak, further added to the disappointment. The management's refusal to remove the undrinkable drink from the bill, despite our explicit dissatisfaction and refusal, left a lasting negative impression. While our waiter exhibited friendliness and courtesy, the overall experience was marred by interactions with the management and cleanliness level. I sincerely hope the establishment takes this feedback to heart and makes improvements for a more consistent and enjoyable dining experience for future patrons."
"I purchased the salmon salad. This used to be one of my favorite meals from Tuckers. Since the price increased by $6 I don’t have it as often. I ordered the salad today and the piece of salmon that I was given was very small. I asked for a different piece. The waitress was very nice. The new piece that I received was slightly bigger. I asked how much would it be to purchase the previous piece as well. She checked and told me the price for petite salmon. Ok, but why was I given petite salmon. Needless to say I didn’t purchase it based on the crazy cost. I am so disappointed with the salad. My salmon is hard, overcooked, taste as though it was frozen and not fresh. Never had this problem previously. In todays economy I hate to waste $18 on a meal that’s is not good, but that’s what happened."
"This place was nice inside and out. I was greeted by a very nice woman and taken to my seat. My server was very friendly. I ordered a salmon salad. The salmon had a funky taste that I've never tasted in salmon before. The salad was good as was the homemade honey mustard salad dressing, but they put the salad dressing on the salad rather than bring it in a little cup so you can put the amount you want. The server came to my table several times. Not once did he question the mostly uneaten piece of fish and salad on my plate. I paid full price for my lunch, but I will not be back to this establishment. If they want to keep customers, perhaps they should question why there are mostly uneaten plates sitting on the table waiting to be taken away."
