"RE the large yellow jacket nest at the falls--it's still very active 10/08/23 & likely will be (on that sunny slope) until a longer, hard freeze. Once at the lower falls, there's a very steep trail along the left of the falls. ~30ft in on that climb you'll be face to face with the nest in the middle the trail--almost at eye level. I saw them flying out of a hole in the dirt & my dogs got stung. They chased us & it's not a super easy place to run. I couldn't see how to get past the active nest. I noticed yellow jackets at a hole at the lower boulder crossing as well. Just be very careful, they pack a wallop. Too bad we missed the full falls, but trail was very peaceful, clear enough to follow, and pretty otherwise! Also, for those who might need to know, there are a lot of stobs from cut stumps in the narrow sections of trail, just watch your step."
"To start, the pictures most people are posting aren’t of Reece Place Falls, rather the lower unnamed cascade below. Trail is pretty easy up til the falls. Turn left when you hit the logging road after you cross Big Branch, then make another left onto a second logging road, Hidden Falls Road. Take this road half a mile to the waterfalls. You’ll pass through a few meadows and cross a few small creeks. Trail’s flat here but a bit overgrown. Once you reach the very end, turn right and cross some boulders to see the first set of falls. Go back and go on the left side to go up to Reece Place Falls. The right path hugs a cliff area up to a small view of Reece Place, at least in the summer. Please take my word for it: it is extremely dangerous and slippery. Please do not bring kids or dogs here. These falls aren’t worth dying over. It’s probably not worth taking. The safest view of the falls is just through the trees. You can’t cross over to the base without dropping down a small cliff and crossing a fast moving creek above the lower falls. Don’t go unless you really want to, you could easily die here. Nobody’s ever on this trail anyway. The Boogieman will find you before help ever arrives. You’ve been warned. Overall, it’s a very nice hike to the lower cascades. Anyone in half decent shape could make it there easily. It’s about 1 mile to all the falls. Nobody really knows about these, so you’ll probably have it all to yourself. Just don’t go up to Reece Place unless you really really want to. Stay safe!"
"Great trail, but not marked as well as it could be. The falls are spectacular and easy to get to as long as you go the right way. When you cross the water and go slightly uphill and reach a logging road take a left then the first trail to the right downhill then left again at the next logging road and follow to the end. Hope this helps as I had to figure it out by myself."
"Beautiful hike! Very dense, thin trail for about a third of a mile then opens to an old service road for half a mile until you reach the falls! Very beautiful water falls with different trails on either side to explore the base of the falls too! We continued around the ~3 mile loop and saw a total of 7 people the whole time. Very quiet place to enjoy! Dog friendly :)"
"Great hike. The entrance has no signs and looks like a driveway but is gravel and has a nice parking lot. The hike starts off a bit steep but it flattens out and is really easy. The falls themselves are great."
