Reviews
"This smaller attraction is unique and has its own history. Totally worth checking out. It has a good mix of experiential, video, and asynchronous learning opportunities. We didn't have a guide and it wasn't busy on a Friday afternoon."
"Highly recommend seeing all the ships at Patriot Point. Two very cool simulations on the Laffey. One in the deck guns and then one inside at the command center. Interesting drone like vehicle as well inside the Laffey. Fair amount of climbing , not as bad the carrier. Also the engine room has some cool interactions as well. High recommend it."
"Having previously visited the USS Joseph P Kennedy DD 850 in Fall River, MA and being very disappointed my expectations for the Laffey were not high. Boy was i happily surprised! What really made our visit exceptional was our guide, Chief Bob. I could never ask for a better guide and I was on a destroyer myself in Vietnam. I loved the fact that so many areas like the bridge and inside of the gun mount and the CIC were open and even had awesome videos playing. In 4 years in the Navy I never set foot in the engine room before this. Thank you so much for having an awesome docent like Chief Bob to escort us through the ship. The Kennedy in Fall River is no comparison."
"This is a wonderful piece of history. Just to be on board and knowing you are standing in the spot where those heroic men fought and many died was one of the most humbling things I've done. I I'm grateful for the opportunity to experience it with my daughter. We had the honor of meeting Luther Singleton on board. He served on 3 of the ships like the Laffey before retiring. He is a wealth of knowledge and one of the kindest gentlemen I've had the privilege of speaking with. If you visit the Laffey,be sure to ask if Chief Petty Officer Singleton is on board. I believe he volunteers 3 days a week, but it is definitely worth getting to know."
"Visiting the Maritime Museum is a great experience for everyone, to much history to learn. Family will always remember this experience."
