Reviews of Crystal Pools LLC
"I would not recommend Crystal Pools to anyone considering a. new pool. Our pool design is beautiful and our pool appears to be well-constructed, but the process was tedious and the price we paid is not reflective of the service we received. Crystal Pools is without a doubt the most expensive contractor in the area. The service they provide does not reflect their price point. From the beginning, I was asked to contact engineers and handle logistical items that I felt should have been included in the service. Once the pool was started, the tile work on the spa was very poor quality. I contacted Crystal Pools and was told it would be fixed. After the attempt to fix the tile made not difference, I asked if they had actually come out to look at the tile work. It was cleat that they had not. Once they inspected the work, they agreed it was not good quality. They suggested we pick a new type of tile, which we did. The installation with the new tile looks very good, but the new tile was over a thousand dollars less expensive than the original spa tile we paid for. I requested a credit for the difference, which I thought was more than fair given the situation, but was told no. Communication was poor throughout the whole process and when we did ask questions it was very difficult to understand the responses. I found the process of building this pool to be more complicated and cumbersome than the process of building our entire home, which we were doing at the same time. The final blow was when Crystal Pools charged our debit card without authorization or permission from us. We purchased a pool heater that could not be turned on until the plaster had cured for 6 months. We wanted to turn it on ourselves, but it was clear the wiring had not been completed so we called them to come finish the installation and make sure it was functional. I was not told there would be charge for the visit, nor have they been able to produce any documentation that I was informed of this or that I gave any permission to charge our card for the visit. I specifically remember being told that when the six months came they would come out for free and make sure the heater was functional. I received a $250 bill for the service visit. I did not pay it and repeatedly asked them to explain how there was a charge for this visit given the original contact and the price we paid for the project. Their answers were not satisfactory and they claim the heater was functional, but the heater did not have power until they came out. After a few months, they decided to charge my card for the visit without my consent. This action was not legal. It is not about the cost, but the principle. I was told not to squabble over more than a $1000 dollars regarding the tile, but when they thought I owed $250 they had not trouble charging my card without consent. I held off on writing a review for a long time in the hopes I would receive a sincere call of apology or at least an attempt to make things right with a customer, but that did not happen. There are a number of great pool contractors in Columbia. I strongly advise using one of them. If I was building another pool, I would not use Crystal Pools and honestly, I am surprised they are still in business given my experience. In response to the reply from Crystal Pools I would like to add that my comment was taken out of context regarding what I said about understanding they would need to start charging eventually. This was an email exchange about an entirely different issue and had nothing to do with the visit to hook up the heater. It was not a consent to charge my credit card. Secondly, I would like to clarify that the glass tile was the exact brand CP recommended and I personally witnessed the glass tile being cut without the use of a wet saw, which is the standard when cutting glass tile. There is absolutely no proof the glass tile was defective, but I am sure that it was not being cut correctly."
"we redid our pool after 22 years. From start to finish the experience was exciting and easy. We did delay our remodel so that we would not loose the swim season. However, once started Crystal was committed to our job and except for a few weather delays (we did this in the winter) everything went on schedule. Ali had wonderful design ideas to modernize our pool look. The service team was great and explained the process fully. As with any remodel we found other things to update to bring our pool up to date. Would highly recommend Crystal for a new pool or a remodel"
"Had my pool fixed by Crystals, turned what I was quoted for from another local vendor from $2800 to $327. The technician, Jonah was very knowledgable and very professional and explained everything to me. Even offered me several other tips not related to what he fixed for my own benefit. I would definitely use him again for any pool issues."
"Custom built pool and outdoor kitchen by Crystal Pools! We love our custom built pool and outdoor kitchen! Ali designed the pool perfectly and her team built an excellent pool that is exactly how she designed it. I am giving the builder 5 stars for how the pool fit my wife's and my vision and expectations. The more we use our new outdoor space we love it more and more daily! My caution is that are going to be more expenses than the pool and if you are considering building to have 10% over the pool costs to cover electricians, additional things you might want, acts of God, unplanned accidents, and landscaping. Crystal Pools just builds the pools. Read your contract carefully and itemize what you expect from the pool builder. This will save your sanity when something happens. All in all Crystal Pools is a good company with good people working for them. Nicole the service and maintenance manager is great! Jonah takes a lot of pride in his work and is a pleasure to work with! Valerii does a good job with constructing the frames and tile work! Thank you, Ali and Crystal Pools for making our dream addition to our home! Monte McKay"
"We just had our pool designed and constructed by Crystal Pools. I met with 4 pools companies, and when meeting with the designer at Crystal Pools, it just clicked. We have a unique homesite, and I was never thrilled about where our pool most likely had to go...and I had an out of the box thought, and as I brought it up, the designer immediately said "yes, 100% percent that is where it should go". Her design was just awesome and exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for a standard run of the mill pool, this might not be your choice of company. But if you care about seamless design, quality, safety, structure....they handle it all. Before even scheduling your design consult, they are very upfront about your minimum cost. They never try to sell you more than you need and are very honest about what is "extra" and what is base/required. As with any contractor, you need to be involved and check in on things, everyone is human and small things can be forgotten or missed, but Crystal Pools is very responsive and will make sure everything is done right. I like to ask questions and know the little details about the what's and why's, and my questions were ALWAYS answered. Once the pool was completed, the service dept takes over and stays with you for two weeks to make sure you understand how to care for your pool. ALL of the guys will answer and thoroughly explain any questions you have. This is my first pool and I am terrified of screwing it all up, and the guys made sure to go over things multiple times to make sure I understood everything. Our pool is so beautiful, I absolutely love it!"
