"I have never been in this store without it being extremely disorganized, & overcrowded. There is barely any stocked items, everything is blocking the isles in boxes. The employees seem to just do whatever whenever, which is noticeably not their jobs. The checkout line takes so long due to the employees & customers chatting. I always have to go to another store to get what I'm looking for. The only hope for this store is to hire people not from Joanna. It isn't working."

"Shop here a fair bit, always a decent experience! UPDATE : I generally try to avoid this place these days. They don't pay well, so they can't keep people in there, so the shelves are BARE, the people that DO work there frequently sit outside and smoke, and they are sitting on chairs that are for SALE. When I buy something NEW, I don't expect to be buying something that is WELL USED. I don't know who is managing, but something should be done. I am sure anyone in my area reading this right now will have seen the employees sitting outside smoking on brand new chairs. Absolutely unprofessional."

"The store employee was very polite and knowledgeable of the store and store products. The store was overall clean. They had just received new stock and was putting it on the shelves, even with that they were keeping the aisles open and clear of debris. Excellent visit."

"Its the only retail store in a very small town, so it stays very busy from open to close from what I have been able to tell. It used to bea good place to shop back when previous managers were there. Things were kept stocked, put up, organized, and so forth. Have no idea who manager is now, but only one familiar face in past months and I know is only store clerk, not manager. Now the store always has empty shelves, stock sitting unpacked in aisles everywhere, a very rude new employee last time I visited store and old sale signs still up from previous week that if you don't look closely at the dates you wouldn't know, therefore I thought I was getting something on a clearance buy because I only saw sign and didn't read small print, so ended up not being able to get several items for that reason, and employee was very rude about it. Used to love visiting this store, but now dread having to go in there, used to be helpful employees, now new employees not properly trained and with bad attitudes. Have visited 2 other Dollar Generals in different towns in past 2 weeks as I was passing through because didn't want to go into the one in my hometown, which is Joanna S.C., and that is the store I'm speaking of in this post. Also with the high volume of the store there should be more than one employee running cash register, no one likes standing in line for 20 minutes waiting to check out on the few items were able to purchase that was in stock and needed, although 4 items were not in stock on last visit. There needs to be more employees and they need to be better trained to work in such a high volume store. I used to work in retail as a manager, if I was manager of that store, I would be ashamed, although it could be upper management not letting get the help needed. I don't know the answer to that, but someone needs to answer for the way that store has steadily declined in the past year or so. Hope to see it get better so the civilians in our town don't have to travel 20 min to run grab things they need that should be able to be purchased right near home. I do see most employees staying busy, so again I can't say who is at fault for the decline of this store, just hope someone pays attention and does something about it. Good Luck!"
