"called this ranger station to ask about dispersed camping options. the women on the phone didn’t provide helpful information, other than dispersed camping in a van is really not available in this section of national forest. i am appreciative tho, as she must have relayed my question to another ranger, and Officer Jones called me back personally to provide some follow up information regarding diapered camping within the nearby national forests. if you’re like us, and you’re used to dispersed camping out west, you will find it’s extremely limited here on the east. they described the Enoree Ranger District more for hunting and fishing, but that the Andrew Picken’s Ranger District might possibly have more options."

"Visited the Sumter National Forest part in Chester County. Beautiful fall colors from hardwoods with mature pines towering above. It was very hilly and also had very deep gullies. Felt a bit like the mountains in some areas. The forest has many trails for horses and hiking. Also the Broad river was nice with ramps for boats. It was also nice because it wasn't very crowded. Truly a hidden gem."

"The areas was beautiful but we drove though on Sunday and there was nothing open and the few roads that u could get back in to the woods on where very narrow. Finding a place to park was very hard if u even could and very poorly maintained in total! Witch was a real bummer as I was hoping to park and camp out this area for a few days."

"We camped at Hamilton Branch State Park for Memorial Day weekend; 05/26/17 - 05/30/17. This is a BEAUTIFUL, peaceful park with spacious, lake-side sites. Even though it was a holiday weekend, we never heard a peep from those around us. So far, this is my favorite park for camping."
