Reviews of Nu-Way Lounge & Restaurant
"After living in Spartanburg for a couple of years, I finally made it to the historic Nu-Way Lounge, about which I have heard much. Friends had also informed me that they serve some of the best burgers in town. When I made my pilgrimage to this 80+ year old establishment, I wished that I have come sooner, and I surely will return. If you are looking for a "dive", this is the place. That said the service was excellent and the food even better. We ordered the area-famous Redneck Burger, and I order the tater tots in place of the house chips. I like tater tots, and these were well prepared - crisp on the outside and tender on the inside - and seasoned with their special fry seasoning. (Not sure what is in it, but I like the special flavor) The Redneck Burger lived up to its hype, and I would definitely order it again. This restaurant has its own personality and is a welcomed fixture on Kennedy Street. We look forward to future dining experiences in is unique establishment."
"Always fun to go to Nuway and see what kinda characters are there! Despite the teeny tiny cooking area the food is always really good. Hamburgers just taste so good. Beer is cold, TVs always playing and music brings back memories. Love this place. It's good sometimes when things don't change with the times."
"Underwhelmed to say the least. A definitely hole in the wall place. Little crowded when we entered but wasn’t hard to find a seat. Once seated we were immediately greeted and placed an order for the pickle fries with homemade ranch. These took a bit to come but they were hot and delicious. We both ordered the redneck burger (one with chili and one without) but after 35 mins inquired what was taking so long. Apparently another waitress handed our burger to another table by mistake. When we did get the burgers they were very dry and I didn’t see or taste any pimento cheese on either. Just wasn’t impressed with the food. The service is outstanding and you can see everyone works well together. I appreciated our server wanting to escalate the issue with our burger since she did ask us at the end how it was. We ended up getting a discount card for our next time (despite the manager wanting to take off our food). It means a lot to know they care and want people to return."
"Ordered wings to go. Was told 10mins but it was 25 MINS later and now I know why. These wings were SO OVERCOOKED. Waste of money!! WHO Ever cooked these needs to be FIRED!! BTW didn't get the ranch we asked for either. This is why IKES WILL ALWAYS BE THE KING OF SPARTANBURG. It may couldalso have been that the All the employees took a shot while I was waiting..who knows?"
"I have not had 1 bad item yet. Tried the hot honey chicken, two thumbs up. But once again there is nothing bad on their menu. The burgers have a unique taste that stands alone. Not to leave out the staff, they are the best, extremely friendly and make you feel at home. Love this place!¡!"
