"This is an excellent welcome center (when it's open, which is only during normal business hours). It looks like there are people who can help you find things like directions and hotels and such in SC, but even when they're closed, the restrooms are clean and the vending machine I used was (expensive but) working. TONS of parking and very easy for cars and RV's and trucks to get off the highway and back on to it with a minimum of fuss."

"***Pics from the Statehouse Mall in the back, on the side and also off the Mall nearby within walking distance.*** Feeding the Pigeons with a daughter & watching her & her friends from the neighborhood or school slide down the marble to the left OR right is a treasured memory or experience of quite a few native born South Carolina Columbians. Or at least for one of them it is. BUT it is rumored to be an enjoyable pastime for most likely ANY VISITOR or Visitors that is also able to suspend old sensibilities for a small moment in time. Or day. South Carolinians also played POKEMON here in the 2015-hundreds. That WE DO know. For sure."

"The welcome center closes at 5pm. But the after hours restroom is decent. Still flushing and running water stalls and sinks. This is a very nice clean, over night rest area for cars, trucks and semi big rigs. They do have nice vending machines that take credit cards."
