"I have worked along side Omnicare/Royal Care for 16 years . I work for a local ARC that orders all medications through Omni Care. Customer service has always been great. Drivers are consistent and courteous. The emergency line for medication has always been good as well."
"I work for a care facility and have experienced issues regarding deliveries on time. We also order by fax, so we keep records and count medications daily. They have to be reminded to help obtain new scripts to obtain new refills. They also do send medication that have been discontinued. Yes at times they are overpriced, but that varies depending on your insurance. Welcome to the world of big pharmaceuticals and poor government regulation of pricing of medications. The delivery drivers come all the way from canada most the time (sue to their services), and Canada has a diverse culture , so having a driving of a different ethnic background shouldnt matter, but normally occurs :). Most the time the divers are very nice, tied, work extended hours. As far as the staff there are concerned Kathy is a great technician, she is straight to the point and explains things to you. If you don't understand her then you need to ask what certain things mean. Somethings are out of employees control so the next time there is a rant regarding this place make sure you have your information in line and understand your insurances pricing on medications as well as how to process the medications. A helpful tip, you can get a print out each year in November of prescribed medications and compare them to another service... Yes omni care is expensive it's because it is owned by CVS. Ask your assisted living community who they go through to deliver medication, and try to have them delivered through another driving service then. As a final note employees vary in the pharmaceutical company and this particular omni care as pharmacist in training at times so mistakes are made. Hope this is helpful."
"My father is a resident of an assisted living facility. The facility uses Omnicare for their resident’s medications. I truly wish they didn’t. My father’s Dr. prescribed Ensure (OTC) for my father via Omnicare but their prices were way too high, so his Dr.’s office found another provider and cancelled the order with omnicare months ago. Omnicare does not deliver Ensure to the facility, and each month it appears on the bill. I have to call, the assisted living facility has to call, and the Dr.’s office has to call each month to remove the prescription/charge. It is an egregious waste of professional’s and my time. It is also fraudulent to charge a patient for something they are not receiving."
"So overpriced! My mother-in-law is a resident at an Eddy assisted living facility. All her meds, including OTC drugs - which she is responsible to pay for - are ordered through Royal (despite my repeated requests to let me purchase her OTC meds). Such a rip-off! Almost $10 for just 30 generic 81mg aspirin or 30generic acetaminophen!! I imagine that the Medicare-paid prescription drugs are similarly over-priced. Why is US health care so expensive? Because we let robbers like Royal get away with this price gouging."
"My experience with royal care is TERRIBLE!!! They don't deliver meds when they are supposed to, and they do what they want to when they want to!!!! I have a bacterial infection and they were SUPPOSED to deliver my antibiotic on the 5 pm run, and I did not get it until LATE!!! So I could not start it until the morning. When ever you call the pharmacy to talk to the people, they have no idea what they are doing. Sometimes we have to call them more than 5 times until they get it right and deliver it. They do this with ALL of my medications and others as well! If you have a choice of pharmacies, do NOT use Royal Care. You may not get your medication when you are supposed to, and it could be a life or death situation at one time! I also think that the people who work at royal care should have to be put in the same situation that they put people! Make them wait for their medication if they are really sick or have an infection of some sort. Make them wait for the period of time that they make others wait!!!! See if they understand then that it is bad that they make people wait and be uncomfortable or miserable, just because they don't have a clue as to what they are doing. I know nothing about the pharmacy business, but I know I could do a better job then they all do. Every time you call the person that answers the phone acts like they have no idea what they are doing and you have to explain and spell it out more than once to them."
