Reviews of The Anchorage
"These guys can be proud of themselves. This is our new favorite restaurant. Everything from service,to food, to the restaurant was top notch. The service was excellent, they really took good care of us, we felt special. Food was artwork and felt like little pieces of heaven at each bite. We started with the bread service and then had the trout & duck , and ended with their beautiful desert. You can tell that they put a lot work, love and detail in every dish, at every service. The wine list is also incredible. Best restaurant in the upstate hands down. Thank you for such an incredible experience."
"Had a delicious dinner at the Anchorage - ordered the "tasting table" 4 course meal for our table of 3, and the portions were perfect, and nearly every dish (11, total, including bread, iirc) was well executed and delicious. Service was attentive and friendly, and drinks from the bar did not disappoint."
"We had an amazing experience at The Anchorage. It was our first trip out of town with our 2 month old in tow. We booked an early reservation to keep any disturbance to other patrons to a minimum. But when we walked in, two of the other tables had kiddos too which made us instantly at ease. We did the tasting menu (really the only way to experience The Anchorage) and it was amazing. Baby slept through the whole meal. Our server Jo(?) did a great job of walking us through the menu and making us feel at home. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!"
"We were greeted with a friendly and inviting smile right at the door. Our server's name was Mitchell, who provided excellent service and delivered the menu with an unpretentious tone, and furthered the experience with his shared knowledge of the menu. I hadn't really been to restaurants with ever-changing menus, my only experience is from my younger brother, an aspiring private chef, so I suppose I've already been given a show of my own. He told me once that restaurants that are worth a damn always have a new menu, freshly sourced ingredients for that day, and "NO WINGS AS AN APP," which was a great tip for the long term, when finding legitimate fine dining experiences. Anyway. My wife and I started with Bread Service, which was baked from a shop down the road, served with House Cultured Butter and Bourbon Liver Mousse. I loved the mousse, very airy and smooth liver spread, and the butter was my wife's preferred favorite. My wife ordered the Grilled Swordfish and I had the Lamb Sirloin. I began to understand portion sizing and artful placement from admiring the loved labor that made its way to the table. Everything that would he delectable has just enough for every bite, at least, that's my naive understanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb, medium rare, everything so purposeful and not left to chance on my plate. My wife also loved her assortment of decorative vegetables around her swordfish. My wife had a glass of Rose, and I had something called "So Fresh, So Clean" which was an artsy Whiskey Sour, not to be super reductive, but saying that outloud was funny. I admire the intent of the owner and his story. I appreciated it more knowing everything came from somewhere in the locality or the state in general. Thank you. It was a grand experience. I also want to thank the hostess, and the wait service that was very attentive to our table, but especially Mitchell, Semper Fidelis."
"We've been to the Anchorage several times over the past few years and this place never fails to disappoint. The food is always wonderful, the servers are really helpful, and the cocktails are amazing (and strong). Highly recommend to anyone looking for a special occasion dinner - definitely get a reservation!"
