Reviews of Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort
"Never stayed in a room there but have been in several. Several of the units that are owned and lived in year round are beautiful, but sadly a large amount that are rented are dated and on a few occasions have had bed bugs. Furniture is in poor condition. The main pool that they brag about being the largest on the island, well in the busy season it is more like a grease pit full of lotion and sweat. They are however attempting to rid the beach bar and restaurant “JJ’z” of rats that have been living the the kitchen for awhile, but with the storage area beneath the restaurant also being flooded almost always, it’s hard to do. If you are looking for something for breakfast, get in your car because not even a cup of coffee is available on property. Also beware if you need assistance from security, they will charge you for jump starts and room lockouts, Both are $30 Cash! All I can say is that there are a lot of choices other then this place, do your homework!"
"The condos are pretty tiny. Elevators are not placed in great locations so loading in luggage was a pain. I feel sorry for handicapped in this place. There is a column directly in fornt of the ramp. The pool was very nice and large. Really like that there are food and drink options next to it for easy lazy days."
"Affordable, quiet, and private. Enjoyed the balcony planning our day. The beach was just a short walk. There was plenty of extras in the in the unit. Beach chairs, umbrellas, soft coolers… We went needing a beach vacation & this place helped make it happen."
"The resort itself is pretty good with lots of things to do inside. They have tennis and Pickleball courts. The big pool is a nice size and it’s right next to a bar that serves food and all kinds of drinks. Plus, it’s not that far of a walk to the ocean. Our room is maintained by TAN, a timeshare company. It’s a bit small but has everything you need along with a nice little balcony. It’s a one bedroom and the bed inside doesn’t seem like it’s a queen and there’s no comforters provided. They do have a bike rental but I feel it’s a bit over priced for the kind of bikes that they offer. They’re basically falling apart. We didn’t take the time to check to see other bike rentals in the area but if you really want to rent bikes, you might look into that."
"Accommodations--We rented two 2 bedroom units through our vacation club, one for my husband and me, and one for our daughter's family with 2 kids. One was in tennis villa A, the furthest from the beach, and the other tennis villa B, next to it. Both are directly across from the conference center/front desk/ restaurant building. Both units are updated and well appointed. All appliances worked, no hot water issues or water pressure issues and the beds were comfortable. A unit balcony faced the parking lot. B unit faced the pond which was a decent view, and we could watch the gator. Although the townhouses across the pong had loud parties a few nights (week before school started in Beaufort County.) Unit B had roaches. Property-- The grounds are well maintained and manicured. If you stay in the buildings mentioned above, and have kids or lots of equipment you take to the beach/pool, you will want to drive across the compound rather than walk. It's about 1/4 mile to the beach, which isn't far if you're empty handed, but if you have chairs, coolers, umbrellas, toys etc it can be cumbersome. There is parking available in different locations between the buildings that are "oceanfront". We didn't use the pool but daughter's family did. It was nice, crowded depending on the day, but plenty of chairs available. Not too many shaded areas so be prepared for full sun. Also 99% lounge chairs, very few tables or upright chairs to sit at. There is a separate smaller, secluded pool on the back of the property. We didn't use that either, but seemed tranquil whenever we went passed it. Only restaurant we visited was Cocountz, and it was standard bar food, good and fairly priced. Service was great. Heard the drinks were great at Jamaica Joe's and the treats at the ice cream stand well received. Grills are only near Admirals Row building, not conducive to grilling and returning to your unit to eat. Bike rentals seemed overpriced. Beach was great, where we spent most of our time. Good location, easy to drive to anywhere you wanted go, day trip to Savannah or Beaufort is worthwhile if you've traveled from out of the area. Overall a decent stay, not a 4 or 5 star resort by any means but decent enough, would come back but stay in a unit closer to beach and pool."
