A guy with encyclopedic knowledge of cars, the skill to fix them, and the honestly to do it the right way? That’s Jamie at Ocean. I first called him on the recommendation of the O’Reilly’s guys. I needed honest advice on whether to do an expensive repair or junk my CX-9 with a blown head gasket. He gave me honest advice. Then, when I asked, he gave me advice on what cars are reliable to replace it with. During the convo, I told him about all the repairs we’ve done on our VW Tiguan. He said: “When they replaced your timing chain, did they replace the water pump?” I said no. He said “That’ll be next to go. I always replace it when I replace that timing chain.” A month later, guess what? The water pump broke and nearly overheated the Tiguan. Then, a few months later, something else went wrong with the Tiguan. The dealership replaced my oil and said they couldn’t see anything else wrong with it. (Thanks) I took it to Jamie. He spotted the problem right away and repaired it for a fair price, and talked to me about what I’ll likely need to do in the future. You can take your car elsewhere. If you do, good luck."
