National Car Rental

"Terrible!! We live in a world where updates and news are instant at your fingertips. I called and made a same day reservation. Yes it was with the call center because you can’t call anyone directly at the location to make a reservation. Their database for available vehicles don’t appear to update but once a day and perhaps at midnight. I questioned them repeatedly on the phone to ensure they had a vehicle and proceeded to reserve a mini van for same day. Keep in mind this all started around 8:30am. Drive and hour to the location just to be told no vehicles were available. Showed them my email reservation for there confirmation and didn’t seem to matter let alone care. Just nothing we can do. This is the whole purpose of a reservation! I called the reservation line back while here at the location. While standing there they tell me over the phone, yes we have your reservation and a mini van shows available. They have no cars!! Complete waste of time!!"

"Since this is my home airport, I rent from here frequently. I always have great experiences. The cars are new, the staff is friendly, and I usually walk away with an upgrade. I wish the hours were better, but the after-hours drop-off works well."

"If I could give it less than a 1 I would. Read other reviews about service and how they treat people in a dismissive, rude and unprofessional way. Not only was I treated this way but even EC customer service who was wonderful was stunned of how they were treating people. I also witnessed another rental car agent berating someone in the lobby because the guy asked to change his reservation “on a holiday weekend”. What happened to the professional people ? National used to hire them. By the way, I travel a great deal and I do want to mention that there are many wonderful people at National just not at this location. Book at another place on the island or in Bluffton and have a better experience."

"I booked my car to be picked up in Savannah. The "customer service" representative was unpleasant from the start (she was rude, unhelpful and a bit aggressive). If that was not enough, I was billed an extra 500 dollars for returning my car one day late. I will not book with National again (my first and last time). After countless calls to National for help to understand the price gouging I gave up ( it turns out everyone is as unhelpful as the CS rep in Savannah)."

"Worst customer service. As an executive elite member for over 5 years I made a reservation and was told they were sold out quick question how are you sold out yet I made a reservation online? Even when they are sold out a car is ALWAYS available for elite members. The two employees which let’s be honest is a surprise in its own because as much as I fly into Hilton Head there is never really anyone at the counter let alone two people. Both of them brushed me off as if I did not even matter executive or not. Have better service don’t brush someone off and we already live in a world where my people don’t matter so don’t be like everyone else have better customer service skills and care."
