Reviews of D & M Restoration
"Incompetent, Unprofessional, and Dismissive. I sent in my 1959 Thunderbird Fuel / Temp Gauge September 26th to be repaired after verifying this was something the company is capable of via email exchange. On October 13th, I called to ensure the part had gotten there and make sure there were no issues, as I'd heard nothing back. Full Disclaimer: I did not put means by which to contact me, other than my return address. Means of contact were in my email signature, but I will accept responsibility on that. Rene was very bothered but told me I would be hearing from a technician as the work was "just about wrapped up." I called again November 1st after no communication following the October 13th phone call. It was on this phone call with Jacob that after sitting on the bench for over a month, it was determined that my part cannot be fixed, and I'm on the hook to cover the return shipping. Unbelievable."
"I could not be happier. My Smiths gauges are working again, spot on! And, I appreciate the turn around time and cost in order to restore yet another feature of my '65 Volvo 1800S."
"They repaired my 1956 Ford am radio to full working order. It was nasty inside but works fine now. Good turn around time and I'll have more for them to repair."
"In all my years of auto restoration, I sadly have to report that my recent experience with D&M Restoration was far and away the worst I have ever encountered. I sent D&M a vintage AMG speedometer face plate that was corroded that I wanted replicated to original finish. I even provided two stock speedo face plates to use for the reproduction. Before I sent the items, I called to inquire about their process and timing and my specific need. No problem - exactly the kind of work they do and will take 2-3 weeks to complete. Sent the items to D&M the end of January. Two and a half months later (with a pre-planned photo shoot of my car looming), I finally had to demand the speedo plates be returned to me with zero work done. Over the 2.5 months of exasperation, Patrick continued to tell me tall tales of getting this "easy job" done and even lied to me on 2-3 occasions including telling me "the job was done and boxed and on his desk" to be shipped. That was over a month ago. I have no idea who owns this company or what Patrick's position is, but I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing good I can say about my experience. I have come to expect delays in the auto restoration business and gave myself more than adequate cushion to get this done with my show car photo shoot at Road Atlanta. What I cannot ever expect or accept is blatant lying and deception. Hate to flame a business on the net, but in this case, I have no choice. Too bad I have to post at least 1 star..... UPDATE - After talking with the owner of D&M (and after he read the above post), I gave D&M another chance at creating clone speedometer face plates. This time around, Patrick was very communicative and kept me abreast of their progress, sending me pics of the dial renderings that I would adjust/edit to be as close to the original as possible. After numerous edit iterations, I was satisfied with the image and D&M silk-screened the image onto the donor face plates (not a sticker - actual paint). I appreciate the owner of D&M reaching out to me and getting my final result to a close clone to the original. Took a while, but everyone deserves a second chance. My advice is to keep regular contact with Patrick/D&M and keep your project front and center."
"Not thrilled I sent a clock in for repair for a customer while I had his dash out, and I paid 252.00 for the repair. When I put the clock in, it ran for a day. When I called they said I could send the clock back for repair. Unfortunately on this vintage car it takes several hours to pull the clock as you must pull the dash, and I did not relish the idea of possibly pulling it several times, and it was a cost loser for me. I offered to split the cost with them, which they declined, they did offer to discount future work, but I don't think I can work with them. I really need an object such as this to work without question, as frequently the labor cost and time for installing is much greater than the cost of the part. In the end I paid 252.00 for a clock that does not work and I am out of the money, which really does not make me happy."
