AJ Excursions

"Egypt 2019 was a trip of a lifetime. I have been wanting to go to Egypt since I was a child. The pyramids and mummies fascinated me. Well the opportunity came up in 2018 when the Egypt Excursion was posted in a Facebook Group called “World Class Travel Crew: Black Women Traveling” for which I was a member. I quickly asked deets by the travel agent/owner of AJ Excursions, Ms. Ajoua Jackson. Fast forward to 2019 as countdown began, those who were going on the trip were added to a smaller FB group specifically for that trip. You could ask questions about the trip and the places we would be visiting, chat with the other people going. Ms. Jackson answered the questions and quelled our fears about visiting what some view as a volatile country. She stated clearly that if she didn’t think it was safe for us to visit she would cancel the whole trip without question. This gave me a sense of ease. Another wonderful this is Ms. Jackson actually accompanies the group to the destination; that made me feel even better. Like how cool is that!!! The trip from NYC to Cairo is approximately 10 hrs. AirEgypt planes are comfortable, wide seats for a plus size individual such as myself. Smooth flights I didn’t feel that the nausea from take off and landing I usually get. She instructed us who we would be meeting once we landed in Cairo. We received our visas on arrival ($25), once we got our bags we were on our way. I can drone on about details and the amount of sites we see; when I look back we sure as hell got our money’s worth. It is HOT AF in Egypt in August so please dress accordingly but don’t go there thinking batty shorts and tube tops are appropriate. Egypt is a Muslim country and their ways need to be respected so I ask you to dress appropriately. I wore linen and tanks most of the time because that is the only way to keep somewhat cool but being “modest” and respectful to its citizens. We went to an exhaustive lists of sites for historical, spiritual, and shopping. We did all the tourists stuff with out really having to deal with crowds. We went out early to avoid most of the heat. Get any rest you can you're going to need it. Have you ever transferred from one boat to another all while in the middle of a river...The Nile, no less. Well yeah that's that some of the interesting and slightly adventurous events that happened on my trip. We got to all the major cities like Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Edfu, and Aswan. I would like to thank Ms. Jackson for creating such a wonderful trip. But also I would like to thank Ash, Remon, Ramy and our drivers and security personnel (Ms. Jackson makes sure her groups are secure) who was with us the whole way. I loved Egypt next time I want to visit Alexandria, Abu Simbel, the Siwa Oasis. Words to learn: shukran - Thank You La - shukran No, Thank You --You will be saying this a lot trust me. yalla beena - Let’s go.... family Ramy taught us that one. Must try: Schweppes Pomegranate Soda, you're going to be mad it is not sold in The States. Lemon Mint - refreshing Hibiscus Tea - used to welcome guests Kushari - delicious Egyptian street food but it is a carb bomb. Them crispy onions --salivating An Egyptian Mango - the juiciest and sweetest mango I have ever eaten. One was procured for me in Aswan, listen...... I demolished that mango within seconds and wanted another. You have to get one."

"Wonderful, Jou was great and her suggestions, flight arrangements, resort were on point. Secrets in Jamaica and flight with MoBay (name may be wrong) but its the only way to land in Jamaica. Great travel agent. I will definitely use again."

"I have had two cakes from Ms.Joy one peachs and cream pound cake that was delicious. It wasn't too sweet but and not crazy heavy for a pound cake my family devoured it my sister loved it for her birthday. The second cake that she made was a banana pudding cake that made a non-banana eater go for seconds.Once again the filling wasn't heavy it was just enough sweetness and the cake itself was very moist I was sad to see it go."
